Thinking
My granddaughter just called from out of town and her car, PT Cruiser, while braking the overheating idiot light is coming on. She said it isn't on while stopped and at idle (yet?) so I disregarded the two speed electric fan. All I could think of is the coolant level is low and braking is effecting coolant level at the sensor. I don't know if the car has an actual coolant sensor or a cylinder head temperature reference sensor. Any other ideas?
Thanks AK. The spare and filler wouldn't be a problem for what I'm considering. If I follow through with this the bed will be off the truck. The problem I'm having is I can't find the dimensions of the 40 gallon tank and I can't find the HD's frame dimensions or any info on how the HD frame differs from the F150 frame, if at all. The ideal situation would be if I could use the HD tank and also keep the 24.5 gal tank that came on the truck. I started looking in to this thinking dual tanks was an option on the 10th gen's but everything I find shows the dual tanks as an option ended in 96 for the F150. As an option, it did return on later generations.
River: From what I recall, there was a 38-gallon tank that came in the long-bed trucks. Short-beds got the 25-gallon one from '97 to '99, which got bumped to 29-gal. in 2000.

Thanks AK and Ohio. As I've said before I'm planning on doing a lot of traveling starting in the spring or summer. With that in mind I came across an article on the web about someone that built a camper for their truck. Researching it more I've come across more examples including some where the truck bed was removed to maximize available space. Some that even built a passage between the cab and the camper they made. I'm not sure about that but it's interesting idea. The ideas run the gamut from a basic, rugged camper to a self contained camper with all the modern conveniences. I don't know what I'm going to do but I am seriously entertaining the idea of doing this to my truck. Unfortunately most of what I've come across is heavy in results but there's not much about how they got to the results. Thanks again.
