So I found a "good running" 351 with a C4 or small case C6 for sale for 300 bucks. His ad says it's an 86 motor. I texted him, and he says it's in a 1980 box truck. So, I texted back and he says the motor is an 81. What the freak? I don't know what to believe... LOL.

 

Whitey.....I thought you wanted a roller cam motor 351? That year certainly wouldn't be one. Could that trans be the older AOD that is behind that 5.8?

Last night a buddy called me and told me he found me some 265/70/16's if I still wanted some for those Am Racing wheels I got. I went over and looked. Good Wrangler RT.S (I think that was coding) with 15k on them, and WRL too. Very nice shape, and all 4 for only 140. I gladly went with that. The build date was 43 week of 2015. New enough. I figure, if I like the wheels on Red, then next summer I would get some 285's and stick them on. I wanted to make sure I liked the look before throwing a load of money at something. I'm finally learning how to be more frugal. LOL. No I'm not. Anyways, today they will get put on the wheels, and I'll go from there. I still have to decide on which center caps I want. There are 2 available that will fit the center.

I took Red on a run yesterday and it was so pleasant. The motor performed great, trans, and everything. I still have to do the timing chain/tensioners. Those damn things bleed off when it sits and clacks like a biatch until they pump up. This still has to be one of the mistakes Ford did, when designing this system. At least they didn't use belts. LOL.

I took the radio panel from the wrecked 98 we got and am going to do a Hydrodip on it to match the door plates and steering wheel. If it goes well, I'll go ahead and do the glove box handle to match it all up. Nothing more. That should tidy up the interior and match the look across the dash. If I don't like it, I can go right back to the black one.

These are the 2 center caps. Which one do you think would look better. I'm leaning to the second one.

 

I've always been partial to the original AR logo, but either will look just fine.

 

Yes AK, I'd like a roller block - but it seems when someone DOES have one, they want a lot of money for it.
