Thanks haha more of a necessity than anything. Baby on the way makes this an even bigger budget build than before lol.

Plus there's no better feeling than getting it working the right away again! If I just bought new parts I wouldn't learn enough to continue to work on it. Don't get me wrong; on the parts I'm more knowledgable on id buy a new part if it was the right move but I need to learn more about carbs!

Glad you got it fire off. I think your timing is off a bit still. Using the vacuum gauge to set everything will zero you right in now. Use one on the tree in the back manifold port you have capped off. If you haven't used one before, grab a Youtube vid on how to set your idle, timing and carb a/f ratio with one.

Congrats on the fire in the hole.

Congrats on the fire in the hole.
Thanks!
Yeah it's probably about time i got me a vacuum gauge.

I've got a timing gun and timed it once before but I think my buddy was messing with the dizzy when he was trying to help and then left it so I have no idea how much he changed it

They aren't very expensive to buy, and with an old FE, they are great to have. Your engine is so open and easy to get to things. Have you had any problems getting the oil filter off? These blocks get hot and the seal with sometimes stick. I've use a chisel twice getting them off. Newer materials are less apt to stick, but the old days, oh yeah, they'd stick to these blocks adapters.

Is the harbor freight one any good?

I've only done one oil change and that was in a hotel parking lot before I drove it 1500miles and luckily I had no issue getting it off.

Yeah how many trucks can you sit IN the engine bay with the engine while working on it LOL

The HF gauge is decent. I have 3 different gauges that I own, but I've used my Buddy's HF gauge. It worked just as well as these do....

Today I replaced the third one of these POS hard drives since I started my new job. I've always liked Toshiba.... but this model is an epidemic.

One of the Western Digitals is that way now. I replaced it twice in 2 years, so I went to a Seagate (think that is correct). It's still working 2 plus years later.

Well lil Red is messing with my head today. I went out to bled off the system, only to find the battery dead. 9.72 volts. Charged it up, and he fired immediately, like always. Never a 2 or 3 turn, just bam he starts. Today, no noise, and barely a noise from the exhaust. I heard a definite exhaust leak the other day. Not today. I'm going to have to pop under there (when it isn't trying to rain) and see if the rear manifold bolts are lose. All the exhaust manifold bolts are still there and tight, so I'm hoping it is in the back. Could be a cracked manifold I guess. But the extra noise he was making makes me wonder what it is. I had and have good Oil Pressure so that should rule out a rod brg making noise. It could of been the chains making noise, but I certainly don't know right now. It's not making that noise, cold or hot. I even used my stethoscope to listen and couldn't make out a specific spot other than at the front cover on the right (normal side for the guide going to hell so bad). Typical guides/tensioners.

All 3 of the defunct Toshiba's in a line.... and you're right Adrian, Toshiba tried to warn everyone, LOL.

BTW - I have a 4th one that is showing signs of near death.
