I don't mind the carbs I work on once in awhile. On the Briggs engines. Not a big deal lol.

Check the side cam for the idle adjustment. Take all the vac. lines and cap them and the carb. See if it will run then. You realize, that this carb will run with the top off, so if you can set the float running and see what is going on from the top. Did you blow out the air screw holes? There are small ports that can get clogged if you don't air them out. Again, thinking out loud.

From what i'm seeing, besides the very clean install of everything, nothing seems out of place. Matter of fact, just about anyone would like to have a FE look that clean.
It's a 74. Problem with running it with the top off... that would mean my truck would have to run long enough to get out of the truck lol

Thanks when I took something off it got cleaned and painted.... unfortunately the intake had some blue taken off from gas issues but the primer at least held up.

Here are some videos I just took. Choke spring is in the lever guide. Set to the default mark. Needles are 1.5turns out. Will start and run with foot on gas. When you hear the truck die that is when I take the foot off the gas

Edit* I can't win it looks like fuel is leaking around the egr/carb gasket. And potentially from the two butterfly valves pump rod on both sides (circled in blue)
Edit2* ok maybe that got wet from me messing with the throttle rod? Maybe I was flooding it with fuel and it started to leak out? Idk will see again tomorrow.

Ah a carburetor I remember those days. Rebuilt many back in the day. One of these come in handy when working on older trucks and cars.

2100....in that one video, did a backfire cause the fire coming from the carb? What is the timing set at? You shouldn't have any backfire, unless you are off on the timing. Do you have it retarded a bit too much? Off a tooth by chance? It is so easy to do in a FE.

Interesting... might be investing in one of those lol but right now the truck also isn't running unless I have a foot on the gas so I'd need a motorized leg too lol

Start button in one hand and work the throttle with the other.

I think you're seeing some paper (idk what it is lol) that is stuck on the windshield wiper flapping against the windshield.

Just rewatched it in slow motion and it does look like a flame is dancing. I'll take a pic tomorrow to show you what you're seeing... I'm used to the dusty dirty windshield so I paid it no mind.
Attached is a pic, red circle is the paper, green square is where the carb is sitting in relation to that view

I am not getting any backfires or flames right now. Good sounding engine with foot on gas, just dies immediately after lol another buddy mentioned maybe something is clogged... maybe I'll tear it down and blow everything out again...
