Truck wont stay running unless I am on the throttle... not sure what that is about but I had a buddy helping me today and noticed a leak around the carb plates. Took it off, spacer to carb gasket was almost impossible to separate. Manifold to spacer gasket peeled off, both wet with gas. Not sure how or what was leaking but have to buy new gaskets before I can do anything.... 2 steps forward 104736485 steps back

2100.....that makes sense. Your truck was backfiring, throwing fuel over the venturies and wetting the base gasket. You may have blown your power valve on the carb with all the backfires. I'm thinking your's is a 2v, but not sure if you have the 2100 autolite series or have a replacement of a Holley. If it a Holley, I'm sure the valve is history. Autolite, not so much, if it is off, why not quickly set the float levels to make sure you have optimum settings. Holley, you can do from the outside. BBF's aren't as picky as some to set to get good results. Great engine, other than the 600 plus #'s of weight that they are.

Whitey.....just looking over the picture on my computer screen (so much easier than a phone) and I may be wrong, but is that a 89 oem intake or is that an upgrade? I like that set up over the overtop style intake Ford loves so much on their car models.

The pad being gone doesn't look but, but you notice how they never seem to paint everything? Lol. Same with my Mustangs' spare tire well.

That intake is a very rare, highly sought after, Downs Ford intake. They are a real performer as is, but you put boost to them, and they shine on, crazy diamond. My intent has always been to boost this thing, but just never got to it. This intake uses the GT40/Cobra/Explorer/Lightning pattern. So, I've got it coupled to a 97 Explorer lower - and porting the lower (which hasn't been done - yet) really helps. I want to put all of this onto a 351 though. I've been searching for one from a 95 or newer truck/van, but they are hard to locate.... unless I go pull one at a yard - and who knows what I'll end up with there. To make all of that magic happen, I need the lower intake from a 94-96 Lightning though. My Buddy has one, and I'm sure for the right price he'd let it go. Also worried about the T5 holding up to the 351.... and boost. So, I am also going to eventually go to a 4R70W.... I think. My other Buddy that owns the trans shop might have one in his pile that he can build me, and then I'd just need a controller.

Anyway.... I can rattle and rattle on about this car, LOL. Yeah, I have noticed Ford got chintzy on the paint. Thought about painting it, but if the stuff above happens, I've got to get a taller cowl for it anyway, and I'll probably do fiberglass or carbon fiber.

Today... I am nervous as a bag of potato chips in Rosie O'Donnel's cupboard. In an hour and a half I meet with the top brass about this new job. Don't know why I am so nervous, either way I've still got a job here. And it feels nice to be noticed, and wanted. Just... on edge I guess.

Congrats buddy. You seem to embody a good employee, so I know why you got the job. Keep up the great ethics.
