Perhaps the nature of the circuit. I have not seen any I recall, having exploded. It is certainly possible. Perhaps the selected varistor was undersized to save a penny*. I tended to not work on retail items. Still, those I have seen in power strips did not explode... any I recall, anyway. Tan to black discoloration, only. Perhaps a small one and a larger one together would help... The smaller giving way, saving the big one for a later, bigger event, even if part of the same event. It has been too long - sorry.

Not sure it's a variresistor, but the resistor in the startup relay on my freezer blew up completely. It had a rating of 4.7 ohms, as I recall.

Not sure, either, but since a lot of reefers do have a hella surge, so it's a good educated guess. Some have a schematic on the back or on a panel door to the motor assy.

Hey there guys. I'm still around. Hope everyone is still doing well.

We've just fought off 121 inches of snow this winter, so far. It's everywhere still, but it's gotten warm and it's melting down. I dug out my Mustang today and drove it around. Felt funny being in it seeing snow everywhere but the roadways. The melting is bad in lower areas. You can't keep anything clean with all the water being thrown around. Washer fluid is truly necessary at this time of year around here.

Red finally got his passenger side outer door handle from a Gator. I already had the left side installed and a dummy cover on the right side. I've been looking but most were so damn expensive I decided to wait. EBay notified me last week that there were new listings, and there it was. $15 shipped. With all the red paint,on my truck, it needed something to offset the sea of Red. That bad boy is already painted and ready to go in this week. We are in the mid-40s this week and above freezing at night too.

AK, good to see you, my friend! 121 inches is a lot of snow! We were very fortunate this year, and most of the snow stayed in the mountains (where we need it most).

The handle looks awesome! So you bought it red, or did you paint it red too? I'd love to see how it looks installed.

I might be nuts.... but I believe I've found a way to tell where the supplier change happened with the FL820S. When I was filming yesterday (I need to re-do it due to camera issues), I noticed that the FL1A had this socket pattern:

It hit me that I bought that socket... and it was not for my Mustang's. Those are very simple to get to. I bought it for my F150. I think Brews pic yesterday solidifies my theory.

The FL820S now has this socket pattern:

Pointed the first change in the filter with a pick and a link , they changed the filter size around 2010 not the supplier.

I asked if you recalled that, you didn't answer...so I posted the pic. Stocked up on the big ones then.
_______

Noobs pic shows two I've never seen before... the sticker, - Motorcraft was always painted on...no sticker. That's a first, And yes, the hex is new.

Both differences in his pic shows the changes. No idea who the supplier is now though.

That's what I'm curious about...if purolator is still making them ?

Hey, at least it didn't get shorter yet ....actually.., it might have lol.
