Mark me down as a "no" on the Supertech 10K filters. So far, my "Champ Labs" filters are looking pretty dang good. SMH

Just know that the shiddy looking one is Motorcraft. Wow... thanks again, Brew.
Sorry been busy, Power outage has now claimed the furnace, dishwasher and cloths washer. Waiting on parts. Furnace is rigged at the moment...couple hamsters and the neighbor kids big wheel.

Looks like you've been busy too...lol.

Cool..

Huh, I wonder if Purolator is farming the Motorcraft out over seas?

WIX has been the best since...well before my time....you proved that one boy lol

Have to hunt some varisters (circuit board PCB protectors) and slow blow 15A 250v fuses down. That's mainly what the surge took out on various stuff. The appliances, - it took the internal fuses and there not very easy get to....also buried in silicone...which makes it fun. Replacing the mobo in the furnace though, took out to many random components on the board. Surge was so quick, if there wasn't fast blow fuses on the board, it traveled. That's where the varisters should come into play...not fool proof way that's for sure.

First bad experience with surge...thought about it plenty, just never pulled the trigger. 200amp service here, will find something good now, installed it right at the box before the house.

Typical, transient voltage suppression, -

Those are what blew on the PCB's for the most . The blue varisters on the smaller power supply's w/no fuse. Large appliances,- internal fuses.

I'll come back and ketch up...I'm sure I missed some stuff you posted up there earlier white. Have to finish this before I loose interest....if that happens, it'll cost me...

Don't plan on an insurance claim yet. Not worth the hassle yet, we'll see I guess. . Found a mobo for the furnace pretty cheap.

Before laptops, I used a medical grade filter for my puter. An isolation transformer is at least a step in that direction.
And you can parallel to double the varistor capacity, (ampacity,) or series parallel like caps to do that + add voltage capacity. Remember to bill your energy provider for your cost of repair/replacement.

Nice.

That's where the fuses are in these newer appliances, in the noise filter set up. Really sucks, noise filter PCB and switches are placed in a plastic cup deal. Fuse is right there on the board. Well, they fill the cup with liquid silicon for vib protection.

I've already attempted to dig through once just to get to the fuse.....heck w/that, it's harassment. So the washer is getting a new noise filter complete w/fuse.

I don't know why they can't make those fuses easier to get to. Like right at the power connect before everything else. It's ridiculous.

I actually have a spare board for my furnace. When my home warranty replaced the whole board, they let me keep the old board, which had a bad relay. I found a new set of relays at Moser, and got it back to working.

Good luck with all of that mess, Brew! That must've been one hell of a spike!

Great video !
Lotsa info, No BS.
Once you put the camera on the mount and the viewer can just watch and hear your monologue, it reminded me of the lockpickinglawyer videos.

Like always, Good job.
