I have my grandfather's Simpson 260M. It's setting on a shelf in the farage more as a conversation piece, but still gets pulled down and used once in awhile.
I think my analog is a GE. It's a really cheap-o thing though. I need to get a good one at some point. Radio Shack actually had some decent analog meters back in the day.
My bet is, you'll see the same results with a Fluke. Maybe a few tenths off, but same fluctuating results.
EDIT: My Dad also has a Fluke 8060A that will one day be mine.... and I hope that's several years from now. But, my Brother really doesn't have a lot of interest in my Dad's tools. I'm sure he won't want the Lincoln Welder either.
EDIT2: I think these are my favorite meters I've ever used. Rock Solid!
Very nice. This one supposedly replaces that model today, -
Bit the bullet on a small pressure washer. The '62 pushbutton Dodge Dart is actually growing a lil moss! V old neighbor died. First neighbor that rankled me so v much. But I want to clean up to help mitigate some other faults of this place. This has a 2 yr warrantee, while half of its sisters have 3, so this time I added 3 yrs of Asurian Insurance. (Many of them cannot get this, except at $17/month, ad infinitum! A new gouge they've come to with, but which covets ALL of your purchases. I prefer the one time $28 fee.) This is one model up from the most popular and has a vital 6 more ft of hose.
I don't even have a cheapo anymore...smoked it screwing around with a plasma TV.
My $3.95 Radio Shack Micronta VOM resided in the ashtray of my '62 Ford Fairlane, beside a handful of firecrackers. A pal asked to smoke once - Sure, roll down your window. He went to snub it out and saw the fireworks at the last second. No Smoking car - LOL ! When dad gave it to me I thought I had a cool tinted windshield, but went to cleaning the car, starting with the windshield, outside and in. Dang, I ruined the smoked effect, and it was WORK getting all their smoke off!
Mom died of pancreatic cancer, but was a tea-totaler, if that's the right phrase. Good figure, which she kept slim with walking everywhere, and with only toast and coffee to wash it down, along with any tar in her mouth from morning cigs. Dad died of emphysema or mesothelioma ... asbestos. My Apple Globetrotting son says he has the pancreatic gene, so I must. If you're going to smoke, it had better be something worth smoking. And I lost two very nice, unusually intelligent marines, from chewing tobacco results. (Doesn't glow in the dark.) No fun at all. Fireworks are on, but illegal now, in my town. Firemen lost a truck from them. They were there standing by at the city sponsored fireworks display. I can sayt, I've never torched a VOM, but I have made gunpowder.
