I'll be dipped... they make it again. I got the "this product no longer available" thing that Noobs got last time I looked for it.... think we talked about it on here even.
I an very glad I asked.
I was looking at the wrong stuff.
Need Mercon without any suffixes.
Says so right in the manual.
I probably should have shrunk that pic.
I find that all over the place. Economical too.
It's still around in qts, gallon, and 5 gallon buckets.
It's what I used every other time too. I looked up the receipt from the purchase.
$18 / gal and in stock at local walmart (though it doesn't say how many).
I don't know how I got off track but possibly by using online parts lookups.
I have much respect for makuloco for putting up so many how to videos but, If I really listened to him I would never buy a Ford again, all are defected, all will have major problems, all are poorly designed, major problems on every one ever built, etc, etc.
I just think I somehow got switched to the wrong page somewhere and with such close names I just went with it.
That (in the link) is what I will buy and has been in the trans since I first changed it at 100K miles ( dealer rebuilt the trans at 52K under warranty).
I can honestly say that I have never had a fluid related failure since I switched to only Valvoline products.
My truck left the factory with green coolant. When I go to get stuff the parts store people always tell me I need gold. Ford says I need green. ESE-97B44-A to be exact. I think one of the parts stores I was pricing advised wrong and I just went with it in my (mad cow eaten) brain.
Ah yeah, that's the stuff I used last in my t-case. Also using it in my T5's. This actually reminds me that is on my "to do" list for The Eight Nine before it gets cold. That fluid, although very low miles, is 12 years old. Can't believe it's been the long since Ron rebuilt it for me.
