my nose is a little stuffed/runny today. Woke up feeling colder. No fever.
Get feeling better, my friend! I've been around a few people that have had "breakthrough" COVID cases. I've been pounding Emergen C.
I ordered 4 sets of Nichocon/Panasonic, Japan made capacitors for all of my EEC-IV ECU's. I am using two, and have two spare A9L's.
*** Random thought time*** I was talking to my Buddy last week. His Mom has a N/A 351 swapped Fox, and he said it runs fine with the A9P. I am running the A9P in my 89 right now, so that could be an option to put in Frankie. The A3M that's in it is the same as an A9L, but it has a higher rev limiter. We'll see when we get there.
I installed my upper control arms, lower ball joints and inner and outer tie rod ends last weekend. Just got it aligned today and drove it around. I'm amazed how little steering I have to do now. Quite an improvement. The new control arms are noticeably beefier than the stock ones. I should have taken better pics but you all have probably seen all this before many times.
Got a code 98 message today, it was stalling reverse. Got a call 45 minutes later, - there's red fluid all over the ground now. Anyway, It was just a cooler line, the little one, -
No trans fluid on the stick, - great...that was Amsoil.
I guess it's been stalling in reverse for the last two or three days, but no one noticed it was leaking. The truck is usually parked in the grass, I didn't see any fluid there either.
Well, I just ordered the line that failed. The cooler and both lines should be replaced at the same time, -
However, I noticed this while I was under there, -
Yea, that's right core support and mount, the left is just as bad if not worse. They're almost totally collapsed now.
So that's it for that truck. I'm repairing the line, but it shouldn't be on the road at this point. I use to fluid film the rad support every fall, - quit doing about 4 or 5 years ago. It's been a good truck, the best! Carried the family and I for 360,000 miles.
Damn... mine are bad, but not that bad. I plan on putting some attention the F150's way next summer. A core support is on the list. I oughta go take some pics of mine. It's raining right now... LOL.
Yea it got bad fast. I greased the front end real good, both off the ground and fully weighted just last fall. I could swear they weren't that bad....perhaps I didn't look close enough , not sure. It was a shocker. I mean, I've known these trucks rust out right there for quite awhile now. That's why I use to fluid film there in the first place. Gave that up some years ago, paid the price. Shoot man, the truck usually sits, it seems to rust quite a bit quicker sitting in the grass. Even the fenders are rusting now. Sitting in the grass or field for long periods of time sped things up a bit I expect.
Well, I'm not sure it's even going to move after repaired. It was ran very low on fluid. It wouldn't move in reverse after I arrived, it would go forward. Attempted to get in the drive and out of the dirt to get under it. Didn't happen...the trans may be smoked. Like I mentioned earlier, when we were talking about it, my kid said it was stalling in reverse for the last 3 days. She really didn't think nothing of it at first...old truck...has it's quarks. I looked around as well, where it's usually parked, seen nothing on the ground. It must of been leaking before then, - they don't stall after gear select like that unless they're low on fluid. However, reverse is fluid hog. Needs a lot of it. It was most likley a slow leak at first....it's a fierce leak now lol. Anyway and regardless, it's done, not sure what's going happen after it's topped off again at this point. Hoping it will move under it's own for now.
I need to figure out how the hell the water even gets in there. The way they rust out, it appears that water is pooling up in there. I thought about filling the cavity with expanding foam when I replace mine, but not too sure if that would just relocate the rust spot.
