Might be easier to prop your phone up in the engine compartment and brake torque the engine in drive and reverse while recording the movement.
We always had 2 people at the shop for safety reasons and would just have the other watch while we brake torqued it.
Good Job and you definitely didn't waste any time. Vibration/Noise must be really irritating.
I've heard worse but this one is troubling since I'm not sure what I broke. It was worth the effort, even if it didn't solve the intended problem - it solved others, like softening the reverse thud.
Well I guess Ford changed up the 2001's without running it by me..back then. So what do you have there supporting the Y then ? You must of seen something..has to be supported in some way. If they were smart or made aware of problems that caused for the bushings and other components The would have redesigned it. Supported at the frame vs a plate above the trans bushing. Was a bad design. Makes more sense why you cant get the parts to repair. They didn't change the diagram in the manual though...still the same.
Pretty sure I found it and it's just different. It still has the sandwich plate at the trans mount. I'll take a picture next time I'm underneath.
On to the next...check the cat shields as well. If it's vibrating idling, you should be able to track it down. If not by sound, through a glove.
BTW, - You can somewhat check the motor mounts having someone bump the starter inside the cab while watching for a over abundant of motor deflection. I used a bump starter for this. Bump starters clip to the solenoid on the firewall. Two wires that feed a trigger operated plastic gun. You can make one with a squirt gun, if desired.
If there's a lot of defection, then you have to inspect and watch the mounts while bumping the starter. ....it's not always apparent the mounts bad without these tests.

I did the test by putting it in drive with the wheels off the ground and hitting the brakes. It's supposed to generate a big flop if the mounts are bad, but it barely wiggled. That was some time ago, though. Should have done it again yesterday but I didn't think of it.
Do any of you know if Ford has listed the capacity of the tailgate support cables? I'm just curious if I need to be concerned with the transmissions. I had about 400 pounds (a 4L80 and a 4R70) sitting on it on Saturday, and it got me wondering if I should be more mindful of the capacity.
EDIT: By the way, I've been using a lot of this lately, and it works FANTASTIC at assembling parts.... especially when they need to hold in place. Holding spacers, bearings, seals, springs, etc. on drums during assembly is one of it's main intentions, but I brought some home to use for other things.... I accidentally dropped a 4L80 sprag, and had to reassemble it. This worked sweet. If you've ever put a sprag back together, you know how tedious it can be.
I have and it was just last year. Other than that ...only on the you tube. Was there a never ending thunder as well Ohio ? Be like tripping at the bowling alley...lol
