What's the proper name for this part? I can't find it using y-pipe, isolator, exhaust hanger/bushing...

The hanger is welded to the Y pipe factory, where I said before...easy to locate.. The Y pipe is the catalytic converter "direct fit" set up/replacement.. in this case anyway.. That's the way they sell them complete. .. if you can get them. I found a set for the 98 last year, got lucky. Regardless this is the factory bushing hanger location, -

Close up, -

They label those "Exhaust Insulator bushings" But that's too broad of a description.. They're a particular type that works for the Y with these trucks.
Anyway, nobody makes a replacement bushing for that, never did AFAIK. Well, I couldn't locate one, and Ford didn't have a replacement back 2006. On your own with that one. The most difficult part is knowing what works. Ended up being Chrysler bushings....you'll require two of these to fit the set up, they can be trimmed to fit like a glove and you'll need them too, -

Amazon Amazon

Btw, -It's difficult to see/locate those specific bushings under the truck. And why I suggested following the hanger w/your hand to pinpoint. - Unless you end up swapping the trans mount...it'll all become crystal clear once that is removed. You'll see what you have to do with that hanger bushing at that point.

And you found the the trans mount correct ?

Yes, I replaced the trans mount today. I saw nothing like that Amazon bushing or the rod-style hanger. I did see the sandwich plate and the hanger, but mine is square. The rubber inside looks ok... its the same width all around.

Trans mount was shot. Touching the crossmember on the top right corner.

Now it sits level and no contact.

Unfortunately it didn't eliminate the vibration, at least not at idle. I was unable to test the high speed coast.

Engine mounts next?

I was quite impressed with the fuel mileage out of my truck last night coming home from my dads. I just had the cruise control set and with the adaptive cruise in my truck it not only adjusts for following distance but it can read speed limit signs

Put new engine and cabin filters in the truck Saturday. Old ones were pretty dirty and I wanted to replace them before my oil change appointment this Saturday

Is that a brand new, unpeeled, not yet installed, inspection sticker in your glovebox?

it is a truck weight class sticker, most F150s are what are considered class 2. I never put in on my windshield because i don't tow or haul large stuff.

PA doesnt even issue them anymore, they stopped at the end of 2021 because it also states it on the registration

Good Job and you definitely didn't waste any time. Vibration/Noise must be really irritating.

Well I guess Ford changed up the 2001's without running it by me..back then. So what do you have there supporting the Y then ? You must of seen something..has to be supported in some way. If they were smart or made aware of problems that caused for the bushings and other components The would have redesigned it. Supported at the frame vs a plate above the trans bushing. Was a bad design. Makes more sense why you cant get the parts to repair. They didn't change the diagram in the manual though...still the same.

On to the next...check the cat shields as well. If it's vibrating idling, you should be able to track it down. If not by sound, through a glove.

BTW, - You can somewhat check the motor mounts having someone bump the starter inside the cab while watching for a over abundant of motor deflection. I used a bump starter for this. Bump starters clip to the solenoid on the firewall. Two wires that feed a trigger operated plastic gun. You can make one with a squirt gun, if desired.

If there's a lot of defection, then you have to inspect and watch the mounts while bumping the starter. ....it's not always apparent the mounts bad without these tests.
