Mercon LV "for use in all transfer cases."

Ford themselves said do not use LV in a transfer case. Ford Tech Makuloco did a video on it as well.
That said, some people say it was reformulated to be used in a transfer case. In fact, XL-12 is no longer sold. You may find it listed on Amazon, Rock Auto etc.,but youll get LV if you order it. I say screw that, not worth the risk. Valvoline still makes the XL-12 equivalent, simply called Transfer Case Fluid.
I ordered XL-12 from RA and got LV. I used the LV in the 6F35 in my Escape instead. I put Mercon/Dex III in there instead.

That's right.^^^
CO, you posted the advertisement that even Ford contradicts.
Yea but if your glass wasn't half full you would realize MERC V implodes T cases and that is what LV was meant to replace first and foremost. And actually geared more towards the newer generation vehicles.

I had a thread about these fluids issues when I did this work in June 2021, and I remember someone said these older Mercon fluids were reformulated to work in applications where they were once expressly forbidden by the owner's manual, but they didn't bother to change the names.
FWIW, I put 7kmi on mine since the fluid change and it shifts in and out of 4WD so smoothly, I wondered if something had broken (nope - just that smooth).

So is it implodes or explodes because those are different words describing different forces? And from what I've read that is mercon V, not LV, which jbrew specifically says replaced mercon V to solve that problem.
That's not current.
