I have a drill and tap question so i figured yall would be the best people to ask. I had to drill out a bolt today in a cast aluminum pedestal on an outboard and it took a 7/16" bit 1.5" to get it done. What size tap and stainless bolt do i need to do the job right?
Thank yall ahead of time. I know this is left field stuff.
Honestly this won't match any of the other bolts. It's a little overbored so I guess which ever bolt is the next step up would be what I want to go back with. I haven't had to tap anything before so I'm sorry if this is an easy question.
EDIT: I read my chart I have linked wrong, JP. You can actually do an M12 X 1.25 with what you've already done. It technically needs a 10.8 hole, so you are roughly 1/64" too large.

Good luck with the tap, job, JP. You've done the hardest part... Getting the broken bolt out.
I'm headed out to the garage shortly, too.
I guess it's about time to install the new injectors, coils, and O2's I've had stashed away. Thinking of leaving the plugs alone, though, as they have only (?) 40K on them. Thoughts?
If I do decide to change them, does anyone know the difference between SP-479 and SP-479X?

Thanks, White.
It just started missing badly yesterday, and I "forced" the code today by lugging it in second gear a bit. I'm going to pull one or two easy ones and take a look just to 1) see their condition, and 2) make sure they're Motorcraft. They went on with the rebuilt motor, and I'm pretty sure I provided them, but my memory isn't 100% on that.
Also, I added a note above: There's athe SP-479 and an SP-497X. I can't find any info that indicates the difference between the two, but the X costs about a buck more.
