Sounds like a trivial change just to hide the fact that they still can't make an airbag to save *OUR* lives.
Fixed that.
That's the problem with a lot of safety-related products. They set there quietly un-used and there's no way to guarantee that it's going to work when needed other than AQL QC tests conducted from the manufacturing line.

Yeah. The unintended consequences of trying to save people from themselves.

I don't know if I agree with that as it relates to air bags (or impact-rated bumpers, crumple zones, etc.) because others' actions can result in my being put in a predicament. On the other hand, I think they should take a lot of the safety labels off of things ("don't place ladder on icy surface," for instance) and let Darwin's laws have at it.

Of course. The simple solution to that is to offer an optional airbag. Anyone who wants one can pay for one; anyone who doesn't can save some money (and maybe not get a face full of shrapnel one day).
So overhead console is in...a little frustrated with the front screw, as the donor headliner had a bulge in the center...half afraid to put it in and watch the headliner balsa board crack, since I just cut the holes out of my stock one for it.
Gotta get to the junkyard or find those A pillar plugs...
