Not trying to restart the transfer case discussion.

Just an public service reminder.
Always pull the fill plug before the drain plug. This goes for all fluids.

Also, I just use whatever Valvoline recommends. I haven't had an lubricant related failure since doing this in the 1980's.

I don't like spacers or adapters but that looks like the brake rotor is still attached to the wheel.
Spindle failure? Bearing failure?

Maybe it is a spacer?

News articles i saw said "sheared lug nuts". Broken spacer seems more plausible than that.

Looks like the original post that I saw on IG has been changed.

However, this one on FB still says it....

Whatever it was, you've gotta think that dude had to have felt something was wonky while he was driving.

Not necessarily...on my old 91 Beretta I had a brake job done at midas back in the late 90's. Shortly after, I could feel what definitely felt like a shimmy.

On the way back to have them look at it the front passenger side wheel sheared off at the lug nuts and embedded itself in the wheel well. Half the lugs were still attached on the wheel side and it pulled the rotor off with it.

Thankfully they paid for all the damage but it was scary af...fortunately only doing 45 when it gave out. If I had been doing 75 on the freeway I would likely have been screwed.

As far as we could tell they undertorqued the lugs and they all sheared off almost simultaneously...

If it ain't one thing, it's a dozen. My horns on Frankie are shorted out internally. I've been chasing a non existent short in the steering column. The horn contact ring still needs fixed... just a pure damn coincidence that it shorted at the same time I started messing with this.

I got the broken transmission blues.
The Vette keeps popping out of 2nd gear, when you can get it in....
Got looking at adjusting it and found a broken mounting tab for the shifter.
Only 2 of the 3 bolts are holding it on and it is moving and not allowing full engagement of the gears.

Looking for a tailshaft housing but hoping a longer bolt will grab threads farther into the trans for temporary.
