Die Walküre

That almost makes me want an electric car.

So, a while back we all got the regular "No Politics" announcement but it mentioned one thread where that is allowed.
Anyone know which one? Is it a special thread that only special people can purview?

I think it was a "give us some money" thread. In other words, I believe you have to be a member. But DJ or Phil should be able to tell you for sure.

Story Time.
Back in ~1998 I worked for a company that built things. Like conveyors and shakers for Phillip Morris.
The service dept. office got new desks. The new ones were better looking fake wood and the old ones were steel with a laminate top.
They gave the old desks to the shop production office. All were unlocked, but had locks.
There was a production foreman (let's just call him J) that had little man / big mouth attitude.
Well, someone in the service dept. (let's just call him W) knew where all the keys were so after a couple months snuck back and locked J's desk.
J thought he was a lock picking god so tried to pick the lock.W knew about how to do practical jokes so had super glued the keyhole.
After an hour or so J gave up and took a long time with a hacksaw blade slid into a tiny crevice between the top of the top drawer and the bottom of the desktop.
J had probably enough room to move the blade about 3 or 4 teeth each stroke. It took a long time. He didn't want to mess up his new to him desk.
J very slowly cut the locking bar.
J was angry but at this time he just thought that the desk accidentally / magically locked itself.
After what was probably half a day of wasted company time J finally had his desk open. He was proud of himself as now there was no way it could ever get locked on him again.

A few months later J went on vacation. W took a new lock and latch bar from one of the other desks and gave them to J's desk with free install.
J returned from vacation and now realized that someone was having fun at his expense.
J went straight to the saw this time. Cussing alot.
Pretty much everyone knew who did it , but whenever J asked about whom it may be, we all gave him dumb answers like "maybe you didn't cut it all the way last time" or "gravity".
J's big mouth and bad attitude made it so that no one ever told him who did the deed for many years after W was gone.

W got to do it twice more as there were four total steel desks.

I am neither W or J.
I just make suggestions sometimes.

Not to sound like a jerk - but for all of the time that a lot of us put into helping others out, I feel like paying to be a member has a certain level of douchebaggery.

Kind of reminds me of going to a car show.... and they want me to pay to show my car that I've put some much time and money into already.
