Most of us don't use a gasket. Black RTV is what I use. The Right Stuff is great too.

I used a Felpro. I'll use a gasket over goop every time.

If you use that Dorman cover, is that where the magnet is suppose to be placed ? as in pic ?

dorman parts for the most part, are straight up garbage

in other news drove the ranger to my grandparents yesterday, think i got close to 30MPG, drove about 130 miles and used about a quarter tank

next winter is clutch time

I wouldn't purchase that Dorman diff cover for the 9.75 again. The holes are off just enough to make it a PITA keeping the bolts straight. No way around it other than re-drilling 3 or 4 of them......not something you want to happen after applying fresh sealant.

I don't think I'd buy a Dorman(pictured below) though.... $22 ? what kind of quality steel is that ?
USA STANDARD GEAR USA32328 is "steel" and $85
Must be a huge difference in quality between the two brands



also your factory fill plug is magnetic , you don't need a big old honkin magnet in the cover
