That reminds me... I have a Firestick that's been giving me fits lately... remote won't respond for a minute or two at times, etc. I just got the new version.... so maybe I can do that tomorrow.

Yea, I wasn't sure which one to try. The other TV's work fine on their own.The 55 in the den is 2016 Vizio, a higher end. Beautiful picture. Wasn't ready to get rid of it. It would just drop, then it was a PITA and slow to get up again. Got of forums and the suggestion was, - Roku, Firestick or Chromcast w/google. Talked intro Roku. Haven't used one of these yet, we'll see I guess lol.

Roku also has a ethernet connection. I wanted that option on a streamer. I was informed the others did not. So a Roku made more sense.

I like the Roku over the Firestick. I can add whatever I want on the Roku, but not so easy on the firestiick. I have been able to do the Kodi upgrade on the FS and with Kodi Lite, I have access to most anything thru the Kodi add. I have a Google Chrome for my one TV so I can use my phone to see pics and vids I took that day.

All in all, I still like the Roku best.

At least I can gift both of these if it doesn't work lol. I have a feeling it's going to work tho. I'll try it after dinner.

Yea that would be great if I could have the free movies from other sites all in one spot. So many new - newish streaming sites out there now.

Btw, - these are the latest (Oct 2020) Roku 4800R's, -

Amazon Amazon

I have currently 49 free apps on the Roku. Pluto, Crackle, Vudo, Roku channel, Sling (free), Filmrise (who does most of the movies on the other channels), Youtube, tubi, xumo, plex, and the list goes on. All free for streaming.

You guys have me curious, now. I have a chromecast. Am I missing the boat not having a Roku? (We pay for Netflix (bastages just raised the price again) and Amazon Prime.

If you go to Walmart or Best Buy, etc, check out a Roku TV. Look at the home page, look at the app list, and you can see what they offer to download, and whatever else you find, and have an app, you can add it easily. It's the same on the Roku box or stick. Best damn thing I've bought to watch NO MORE CABLE.

I also added a moveable electric outdoor antenna (32 on amazon) and I get all the local channels free. I guess I save about 120 a month on TV now. I did have to go to Unlimited internet, but for 100 a month, I have everything I need and then some.

I have a Roku and I've bought about 6 Firesticks now. I prefer the Firestick. It has more capabilities. We have a Chromecast at work, and it seems decent, but I haven't used it enough to say what is best. I use it for Sling, Plex, Amazon Prime, Youtube, etc. The Firesticks are faster, but the Roku is a solid unit too.

EDIT: Oh, and AK, my daughter just bought a Roku TV at Walmart. It seems like a pretty decent unit.... especially for the price.
