Thinking
So on Monday, I've got to to to the damn DMV. Utah has two systems for VIN numbers, for some damn reason. If the car has not been registered in the last 10 years, it does not show up in the new system. When this guy sent the paperwork in for the 88, he got a lazy person that just said they couldn't find it and sent everything back to him. Due to me wanting to just get the SOB in my name, I got all of the stuff from him yesterday so I can go to the DMV in person on Monday.
In my email correspondence with a DMV employee, they told me they couldn't see it until I gave him the plate number. Seems stupid that the VIN doesn't show, but the plate does.

I couldn't agree more about Mangini. It's like he's out of place if he's not going 100 mph.
Did you watch the video? That wasn't about the drummer. It was about the guitar player. This guy on Guitar Hero not only flawlessly played the guitar part, the first to ever do that, he also played it 65% faster than Henry Li played the song originally. He was blown away. Not only because he did it, but while he was doing it he was reading and talking about the on line comments at the same time. Li finally just threw his guitar. About the band, I'm not very familiar with them but 10 years ago or whatever it was this song was played a lot.
Priester is amazing. The first time I came across him it was in the mid 90's and he was playing all these Latin rhythms at ridiculous speeds which was being critiqued by well known Latin drummers and they were pretty much speechless at what he was doing. That's playing a lot more than a crazy fast back beat. At the time he was an up and coming drummer and he's sure made his mark now. Like Portnoy his abilities far exceed what he generally shows.
Also came across Fear Factory and Iced Earth again last night. Two bands I really like but had forgotten all about. I was up late listening. Another blast from the past. (Devon Townsend even came up at the top of the scroll choices with the Priester video. Maybe because of listening last nigh? lol)

Yes, I've seen those vids before you posted them. That dude is amazing! Didn't know you liked Devin Townsend. Have you heard his "Live at Royal Albert Hall" concert? Easy top 10 live performances of all time, IMO. Deadhead is absolutely fantastic. I listened Iced Earth this morning... my cousin posted Declaration Day. My favorite Iced Earth album is Dystopia.

Funny you should ask about Townsend and this recording. I didn't know anything about the concert until last night. I came across a video of a vocal coach critiquing his singing of "Deadhead" at the concert and watched it. She, the vocal coach was in awe of his singing.
I think I remember telling you the metal I like has a melody to it and Townsend's music is soaked in Melody. He's done songs you can even imagine someone like Frank Sinatra pulling off in his genre. He's that diverse. My nephew led me on to him during the Strapping Young Lad days. There's not much by him I don't care for but I'd say those are my favorites but I haven't come close to hearing it all.
Iced Earth? I'd go with "Something Wicked This Way Comes" and the song, "The Coming Curse." Funny story, I don't know the ins and outs of the band at all but I've met Richard Christy a couple of times and the first time I met him I started telling him how much I like the album and was asking him questions about "The Coming Curse." Then he lets me know he didn't join the band until almost 2 years after that album came out. He couldn't answer the questions I was asking. lol I've since learned that band has had over 25 different people in it since is started in the 80's. I really don't mean to say the wrong things but everything's been fine since.. lol Off the top of my head I can't say I'm familiar with Dystopia but I'll listen to it today. You tube wasn't then what it is today. I caught most of my metal on the TV metal radio station. Most people I know my age don't listen to metal to share it and I've only been a couple of places where there was a dedicated metal station on the radio. But I like almost everything except Gregorian throat singing which is like fingernails on a chalkboard so I can get by.

My Buddy is here... just swapped the first gear over. And.... good news. The T5 in the 88 has been rebuilt recently, just as I had suspected. Synchros look brand new... the fork pads are new, bearings are new.... I'm giddy.
After I posted that, my Buddy and I looked at the two spare T5's that I've got now, and it looks like just synchros, and I've got a good spare to throw on the shelf. So when this is all running, etc., he and I are going to build at least one spare. If I get another first gear and a second set of synchros, I can probably build 2 with what I have.
I was just going to PM this to Rivers... but thought a couple of you might like this YT channel, Band Geek, as well. They do covers, and do them really well.
This dudes vocals are dead on with David Coverdale.

Man, miss a couple of notifications, and a lot goes down is a few days!
You're making serious headway on Frankie Foxenstein, Whitey. Are you going to do some wire tucking on this one? Seems to me it would be a no-brainer with everything stripped like that. Is the oil cooler/filter relocation talk in relation to the '88 as well? I don;t think I've ever seen it done on a Mustang.
"Dark Matter:"
"The Expanse" is another very well-done Sci-Fi series (maybe better than "Dark Matter."). It's currently on Amazon Prime video -
And 1000 points to White for the "Colombo" reference.
