I remember when laws changed here and shops were required to return any parts that were changed if requested. It's always fun when the returned parts had nothing to do with the quoted job while the parts obviously came off the vehicle. Here in Michigan mechanics and shops are required to have a license (shops) and the displayed certifications required for the work they do.
My Brother took his old Escape in to the dealer here. It would chatter/vibrate when turning right at a stop light, etc. The tech had it for 5 minutes and came back and told him it was his driveshaft, and quoted him an astronomical figure to fix it.... I know it was in the ballpark of a grand. So me brother called me and asked my advice. I told him to ask the shop manager why they couldn't just replace the u-joint instead of the whole shaft. So he did, and they actually made the tech replace it no charge but parts. Labor was on the house for trying to screw him over. I've heard several stories about them (one just over this last weekend) where they made a mistake and more than made things right with the customer. It is part of the Larry Miller group.

Awesome! I would be gun shy too. How thick was the wheel you used? I was going to try and get a thinner disc than what I have right now (1/4").

But damn, after reading the Eleanor story, I'd be a little leery. I owned an Eleanor when I was a kid. It was a dirt bike tho, a CR250 Eleanor.

You drove your shower to work today ? You have all the cool stuff white! (edited out the girly voice)

I think you mean the Honda Elsinore bikes named after Lake Elsinore in California? A big motocross area. Mr. Honda was often quoted for his remarks that Honda will never make a 2 cycle engine and then in '73 Honda came out with one on the Elsinore's. IIRC the biggest selling production dirt bike ever and they were nice bikes with pulling off things like bringing the monoshock to the mainstream in a production bike. Before the Elsinore came out the European dirt bikes like the Husqvarna, Bultaco and Hodaka ruled. Honda changed that.

Like the Eleanor cars there was also the Bullitt cars. "Bullitt" was thrown around more freely than "Eleanor." Seemed that way anyway/

All of 5 minutes and someone isolated the problem down to the driveshaft. Just getting to hear the BS story behind that would be worthwhile. Your brother is fortunate he has someone to call. Hard to accept but most people don't and too often get burned for it.

This might be insensitive to some people because of recent events but I mean no disrespect by it at all. I support 100% the changes so many are now working for with the extra effort and motivation that's been added by the senseless tragedy of those recent events. That said;

White, I don't remember if I've already posted this or not but on a recent day trip to Midland I came across a white pickup with this across the top of the windshield, "White Trucks Matter." Thought you might get a kick out of this.

Unfortunately this is too true. I have a female coworker that paid $4,000 out of pocket for a motor swap. Not Super crazy until she told me it was a USED motor, not rebuilt at all!

Don't think I'd want that on anything I owned right now, lol.

Hah! Yea, Elsinore is correct. Can't believe someone caught that. That was quite a few years before the mono-shock bikes. Husky was my all around favorite for many years. The 390 anyway. Bultaco for trials. Worst bike I owned was the Maico Alpha 1. Had a 78 RM400 for awhile with a terra-flex that was a rocket ship. Man that thing was fast. But the Husky, that machine would not only jump off of the cliffs, it would climb them with ease.
