Heck, that looks much more inviting than the picks you put up earlier.

A few years back, might of been last year, the kids checked fuel mileage in the 98...- it was getting about 15 mpg. Pretty good for that old truck.

That is easy, easier than I thought on a truck with those miles. I like the way those ears lock it in. Notice Makuloco using a little beam torque wrench for the 25" lb spec. That's the only way to go for inch lbs. I use 3 SK torque wrench, built in dials. The smallest one and every other one used for inch lbs wasn't accurate. Yea, those cheaper little beam wrenches for inch lbs are the only way to go imo. The large SK's are bad to the bone, good wrenches for the heavier spec.

Our application uses a 310-0040 heater. This fits a ton of Ford applications.
Built in cords seems like they would suck when it came time to change it out. Has your heaters ever leaked in the past ?

Brew.....Personally No. I've never had a Phillips leak. I've seen them rust out, but the oring leaking, no. My neighbor, on the other hand has his still leaking. It started last fall when his heater came out while going up hill. I'm guessing he has maybe a head gasket leaking. He's had it in the shop 3 times and they have warrantied all 3 heaters, but his is still dripping right in that area.

His is a little tougher to get to, as it is kind of under a part of the motor mount on the right. Still, it's very manageable overall. I found another leak, at the front timing cover (3.0 v6), so that may be the leak that is showing over the heater. It runs right around the front right side and seems to run right over the heater. The shop he's been going to doesn't want to touch a 200k mile motor for just a gasket. Timing chain etc should be done while in there as well as the water pump. Hell, they are off, why not. lol

@akdoggie

The battery has been off the charger all day and the battery has held 12.96 - 12.97 volts all day. I also realized the voltage reading I was getting last night was wrong. Instead of hitting the "zero" button for the read out I was hitting the Temp. C and F button. I didn't have my glasses on and my memory isn't what it use to be. Still haven't gotten up to Autozone yet though.

well ill have some good pics for you guys tomorrow. rear brake pads idk if they just gave up and fell off or if I just wore them down all in one day/roadtrip but I never had any squealing or anything and I checked them the other day and there was no pad left. I noticed it because I started to hear metal on metal.... WELL then we were heading to visit the parents saturday morning and thats when i saw the wifes tires were unsafe to drive on... so we took my truck. Didnt think it was as bad as it was but ive all but destroyed my rear rotor. 500ish miles with another 180 to get back home tomorrow. Yeah the rotor is chewed up bad. Im hoping planning to say screw it and just do pads. The front brakes are still good and I dont know how much longer this truck will be my DD. Shouldve delayed our roadtrip and done a brake job real quick but we were on a tight schedule. Stay tuned for pics... itll make me look like im an idiot who doesnt know when to replace brakes lol. Ive been wincing every time i have to hit the brakes cz that metal gouging metal sound just sounds sooo bad.

Yea, it's been a long time since I've seen or heard about freeze or block plug leaking in these. In the past yes, here and there anyway, but it was always at block heater. Not on this site though.

What does your neighbor drive, a Ranger ? Yea, I don't know diddly about the 3.0, - the 3.8, 4.2 yes, but never liked those engines lol. Shop doesn't want to fool eh. That's too bad specially if the engine is otherwise healthy. Right, perfect time to swap out the chain and misc...

I went to a place called Bluebird Diner tonight. Man--man. It was really good. They have an old school soda fountain/ice cream parlor, and they also have another building around the corner that they make chocolates in.... so they sell those on the right in this pic. I'm already thinking I might go there again tomorrow. This ground steak was supreme!

That doesn't sound good, might wanna pick up a pair vise grips, crimp the hose with a couple pennies. There's just one hose back there. That's not good for the line but....
