Thanks, Brew. The #19 is actually pretty mild, but you can definitely hear it.

Nope, no 'nanner Stang here. Just this one ('bought in '06) and my red '87 LX prior to it ('90 to '00).

My granddaughter turned 18 yesterday so she can get my 76 Montego MX put in to her name. We were talking yesterday about swapping the 351 Mod for a Windsor. If we start looking for a Winsor I'd appreciate any info anyone can share. Particularly if the are years or original car installs to steer clear of for this swap.

@white89gt

Here's a pic of the MAF board. Couldn't PM it.

Yeah.... can't get too jiggy with the cam when you're boosted. My Buddy made more power with a stock HO cam and turbo than he did with a B303 he had when he did the turbo.

I got lost in your last sentence. Can you explain?

Nice... what is the P/N on that MAF?

My spelling didn't help I see. Sorry. I don't remember where I got this but I'm thinking there are some engines that aren't the best for swaps. For example, I seem to remember something about the "E" vans with the dog houses that are set up in ways that don't make them convenient engines for swaps to cars. Some things are moved and have unique brackets for easier access in the dog house. Are there other engines to avoid for reasons like this? I'm also thinking if we do this I'm going to leave finding an engine up to her. I'll help but the leg work is up to her. The car also has an FMX transmission and I don't want to deal with any mating issues and I'm not familiar with these engines or transmissions.

This MAF was out of the 08 Edge. The MAF, from what I was told, design concept of building the board for the multiple vehicles and methods of operation goes back to the 90's. There are also 3 sensors on the part and I don't think the MAF uses 3 different sensors. But I also don't remember being told that the various possible sensors are also installed on to the part. According to the manual the connector has 6 pins but only 4 are used, power, ground, MAF signal out and MAF sensor signal return. Obviously there is no diagram for the MAF itself so I'm just guessing on the sensors themselves. Maybe 3 are needed? The smallest IC chips I can remember seeing are also on this board. (If you'd like, I'll put a picture up of the actual sensors. Did it anyway. lol)

I wouldn't use an FMX unless you've done all of the updates. I hate that trans. A guy at work had a Ranchero with the FMX....he went out to start it before leaving work on a cold day. Next thing we knew, that thing slammed into the side of the building. It slipped right out of park just idling. Not an uncommon thing either.

As far as the 351, in my search I was looking for a roller block only.... maybe AK knows more about the E series and if they are different.

Would it be easier to tell her to go look for specific Windsor? Meaning, if she gets "this" she will have no issues? I also don't want to get one like the one where coolant flows backwards. I hear you on the FMX. The internet is full of "oh %#&%" stories but no one generally puts out a "it's been great" story.
