Oh damn. You mean the thrust washer. Any good 4x4 outlet will have those available. 6 States comes to mind. I'm not sure who is who in your area.
There is also a rubber washer for the end of the spindle shaft to keep dirt out. Might as well grab 2 while you are there for the slinger and seal.
I swear my thrust washer is metal but all the ones coming up for my axle are plastic. guess it is what it is.
Where does this rubber washer go exactly? I have bearing< hub< bearing< seal< spindle< thrust washer< v seal< slinger< dust shield< caliper brace< knuckle.
I forgot to mention that the oem thrust washers are bronze shims and then Dana swapped them to plastic some years later. You can still get the oem style but usually it's the 4x4 places that stock them or a shop that does a lot of 4x4 old style design.
Ah yeah so yeah looks like the rubber washer goes over the needle bearing area. I'll have to check mine out.
That makes sense, it looked metal but wasn't magnetized lol. Guess it's OEM. I'm missing one side tho so I'll just buy the plastic ones.
And huh I didn't have that serrated seal but like I said I can't trust the PO of the axle. I'll look into that one as well thanks for walking thru that info with me!
Last question and then I'll let us get back to the regularly scheduled program lol
Where the blue circle is, should there be a seal? I see newer trucks have one there but I only see a seal for where the axle tube meets the housing for this older 44. No mention of an outer axle tube seal. Just seems like there should be one but I didn't have one on either side.
My book shows it as an inner 44F for IFS or tube seals for the 44F in the 150/250 Look at the pic below. You can see where the inner seal rides Thats the whole seal set up for the 44s

Ok yeah that seal is still in good shape (well it's not leaking and I don't plan to take out the ring and pinion to change it lol.
I just wanted to make sure there wasn't a seal where the blue circle is. Just seems like it's not a great idea to leave that entire axle shaft open to the elements... although I guess that's why newer axles have a dust shield there lol
There nothing is at the outer ends of the axle shaft end. That is where the axle is allowed to flex so it doesnt have bend. By being loose it lets the axle move about some, but the stub axle takes the stress at the end. Basically it is supported by the inner gears and the outer knuckle. Nothing like todays sealed up units.
