Red got his hat on today. I don't think it's too bad. I need to move it a 1/2 inch or so forward, but otherwise.............

2100, when was the last time you dropped the pan on the trans?

AK, that looks really good. I always wanted a top that followed the lines like that.

2100... Describe "slip out of gear". Do you mean the shifter physically moved?

Uh can I plead the fifth?
Tomorrow morning I plan on getting the truck up to temp and checking fluid. Couldn't today as I was alone with a cranky 1.5yr old lol

Yeah that was a bit vague huh, sorry about that. Shifter doesn't move, it stays in Drive but the truck feels like it's in neutral. Engine will rev up but truck doesn't move... then after a second or two the truck starts moving again and I can drive normally.

Is it in the same gear when it happens? It's pretty common for the 4R70W to slip in first when the bands get bad, then for it to be fine in 2,3, and OD. You can get around that temporarily by manually applying first with the shifter.

Wait.... you do have a 4R70, right?

Hahaha 2100, my black truck did the same thing. I dropped the pan, drained torque converter, and refilled with new fluid. It's still going strong with the new owner.

Mine did this, but accelerating *after* a turn, when the fluid was low due to leaking into the xfer case. A problem which, strangely, has corrected itself so far.

Yeah Trans code is U. And hmm well it's so far been from when I'm stopped trying to move so just first gear right now.

I'm kinda hoping it's something that simple... although I'd rather it just be low instead of doing a pan drop in winter while it's supposed to be raining/snowing lol.
Also I read through your post I believe... and I have the 03 so it sounds like I wouldn't have the TC drain plug you had maybe do a pan drop and if it doesn't fix it then do a couple more pan drops to make sure I get the tc fluid changed out too.

Fingers crossed it's just really low and I just need to top it off lol... could I be so lucky?
Also worried the PO never changed it so it's probably 202,000 miles old
