There are some things the Dorman is OK at. But there is a lot they aren't.

The video of Eric O. putting a Dorman handle on a Jeep comes to mind. He had to modify it to even fit.

Are you saying somebody would make and sell something that doesn't fit? Never heard of that before.

As I recall, he even busted out the welder to make it work.

Not meaning to hijack the thread here but thought I’d ask you guys before I post in the 09-14 section. I have a 2012 with the 5.0 4X4 and recently I’ve been noticing a clunking noise but only in 4wd. Only seems to happen at slow speeds and a lot more significant when making a turn.

Just did a quick drive around town and when making a turn it makes kind of a rapid clicking noise in addition to the clunk. Clicks but then clunks and drives smoothly for a bit before doing it again.

I hate dorman parts. I put a dorman cam phaser in a 3V 5.4 2 years ago. Truck had 130k something miles and had the common phaser knock at idle when warm but went way when revved up. That guy could have drove that truck much longer the way it was but was dead set in his mind that a dorman phaser would solve the problem. He was paying me to do it so did. Truck came back to my uncles shop about 5,000 miles later as loud as a 7.3 powerstroke. 10 times louder than the OEM one was. I tried to tell that guy but he wouldn't listen. I've had bad experience with other dorman parts too
heck my trucm's phasers knock at idle when warm too. It's just what they do

Damn. It seems like every dorman product I ever bought had some sort of issue. I bought dorman key fobs for a PT cruiser once and the plastic was separating after a couple of weeks. Not to mention the range was complete garbage.

I picked up some Dorman, tire valve caps at Auto Zone and I haven't had any problems.

sounds like you are describing a bad CV axle shaft. Easy job. It could also be one of the hub units they are known to have problems with

that was one of my guesses but haven’t done any diagnosing yet. Pretty sure that’s covered under the dealerships warranty but if not I’ll pull it in the shop before I put my frame in there lol. Got it from a small family owned dealer/shop that I’ve been good friends with for a long time. They found me the truck and threw in a 2 year parts and labor warranty lol.
