Thinking
When looking up parts I'm noticing more and more there are parts listed for both Motorcraft and Ford. Most recently today when looking up ignition switches at RockAuto. But it's not just RockAuto. I've even seen both brandings listed on Ford Performance's web site. Anyone heard anything about what's behind this?

AFAIK, wear and tear items usually start out in the beginning as Motorcraft parts... like filters, brake pads, pcv valves, spark plugs... stuff that most consumers will change on their own.
Then things like the ignition switch start out at Ford Parts, and eventually graduate to Motorcraft as they become older, and the vehicles get serviced/repaired much less at the dealer.
IMO, it's a way to charge more for the same part.
AK might have a better perspective than my own observations, but that is what it feels like to me.

Hey River, I dont think Patman has the PATS system intact anymore. I know he retrofitted the cluster from a 12th gen into his dash and without the stock cluster PATS would disable the vehicle. I just thought I would share what I noticed.
"The long story short version is that I am running essentially two vehicles worth of modules/networks
the 2003 is responsible for body functions. Windows, locks, lights, radio etc., the donor 2015 is responsible for cluster, engine, transmission, steering etc.
There is "some" overlap between the two, brake switch, ignition switch, brake level switch etc. But for the most part they are separate body harnesses doing separate tasks.
Still have PATS on the donor truck, no issues yet"
I assume by donor truck he is referring to the 2003 and not the 2015 the Coyote came out of. I literally just now got the info on the Pats. I assume you're as surprised as I am?
EDIT: OK I screwed up. He used the donor dash but PATS is still intact. I wonder how my FP PCM will mate to my OEM dash? The FP PCM has no PATS but it also has no imbedded VIN or other systems relevant information in the module. I'd like to avoid installing another RacePak, Datalink run dash if I can. If nothing else it leaves an additional $1,500 from the budget that can go elsewhere in the truck.

The best info I can give on a Ford vs Motorcraft part is that Ford comes in a Blue/white oem box. Motorcraft comes with a red and white and black box. The part inside is the same. Motorcraft is a division of Ford for resale of items that are used commonly. Specific items still are Ford only. Common items (battery's, filters, plugs, etc) are Motorcraft. All pigtails, wiring plugs etc are coded to Motorcraft. Wiring harnesses mostly carry the Ford part number and not the MC tag.
Think of it as AC/Delco and GM. Same situation, at least it was before. Now there is so much branded AC/Delco, and a bunch of it for Ford or FCA, who knows how their branding is anymore.

Crap ton of Spider Man's here.
I think what gets me is, I am sitting right in view of the front door in my recliner. The kids look right at me getting up to go to the door, and STILL ring the door bell, LOL.
What happened to yelling Trick or Treat?
EDIT: It's making it really difficult to work on my Windows 7 Server while passing out candy.
