Thinking
One of my childhood Buddy's came over for a couple hours tonight. Kinda cool to reminisce a bit.
Just so happens that my very first best friend as a child (3 or 4 years old) just happened to move from SLC over here 3 or 4 streets over from me. Going to have to go hang out with him, he's a mechanic by trade. I smell some projects brewing.

I saw him at the store.... then chatted on FB.
I knew he liked wrenching on cars too..... and between my Grandpa's 78 F350, and the Bumpside truck that my Buddy's Dad owned, I was sold on Ford. My Buddy's Dad had about a 68 or 69 4WD F250. One of our neighbors growing up was trying to pull out a tree stump with his Dodge. It wouldn't budge, and actually wound up pulling the bumper clean off that truck, LOL. My Buddy went and got his Dad to bring his Ford over, and it pulled that stump out like it was nothing.
In hindsight, we were pretty stupid as kids watching a chain tugging on the stump. I doubt my parents knew about it, lol.

That's great....cool story. My dad had a 69 4X 3/4T with a plow. He bought it new, but I don't recall it looking even close to new. I didn't take notice until I was much older, by that time it was faded Ford blue w/surface rust here and there (but it still looked damn good IMO) That's the way I remember it anyway. It had oversized tires; I don't know if it was a high boy but it sat pretty high.I use to go out at night with him plowing, I just knocked on doors lol.
Stump pulling was a big deal back then...seems that way anyway. Fords have always been the leader in toughness, had a 79 150 in high school and a fine bone peace 75 on the farm with a 390, my favorite engine way back when. That one was NOT safe for travel but great fun in the fields when it wasn't stuck...yea ha!

My Grandpa bought his 78 brand new when I was just 3 years old. I loved that thing from day one. I've got pics of me standing in the bed, waiting for a ride. Yep... I rode in the back of the truck, LOL. His had a 460, and it was a Ranger XLT. He wanted the 460 to pull, and preferred a 4WD, but the need to pull horses outweighed the need for 4WD for him. One thing I will always remember about that truck is the belt squeal. That belt would squeal under WOT, even when it was new. I wish I would have taken him up on taking it when he offered it to me.... but at that time I had 2 Mustangs and an Explorer, still living at home.
