So I was thinking this would be a good cloud NAS but after reading some reviews now im unsure... whitey or anyone else do you have thoughts on this one or what would be a better purchase?
It has never randomly changed the IP address. It does lose connection from time to time, however, EVERY time it has, so has something else. My router is a giant POS, and I am 100% certain that is my cause. Take for instance, yesterday the router completely froze up. Linksys hasn't been the same since Cisco sold them. I have a new router by TP Link, I just haven't taken the time to swap it out because I also need to run a home run of CAT 6, which requires me removing some sheet rock....
I like it though. I also have an 8TB WD drive plugged into it that I stream TV shows off of, and I use the 3TB for movies.
About the only thing that it will do from time to time is necessitate a rebuild of the database. If I throw several seasons of a TV show at it all at once, I usually have to rebuild the database for it to show up on my DLNA devices.
It also keeps track of what issues it has. As you can see, it even shows when I have to reboot my damn router sometimes. I had to reboot it SOB twice on Halloween.
This is my attached storage.... I ran out of room on the main 3TB drive.
I also like that I can stream my photos or music onto DNLA devices too. I've got a pretty decent music selection in there.... I have another 32 GB to throw on there too.
This is what I was talking about above.... this rebuilds the DNLA DB when you can't see things on your devices. Also, if you like and use iTunes, it will also act as a server for iTunes. I don't like or use it, so I've never turned it on.

Thanks, I went ahead and bought it. The 3T was cheaper than the 2T lol. But yeah I was reading part of the connection lost problems were people who had the energy saver (sleep) mode on. With prime shipping it should be here Thursday so I'll get it hooked up then
Nice! Yeah, just assign it a static IP, and you shouldn't have any issues.
One more feature you may not be aware of is the web based access. Instead of remoting into my PC from work, I can pull files straight off of it via web browser. Just set up an account, and I believe all you do is type in your MAC address. It's been a few years since I set it up.
I don't know if you guys have noticed.... but we've got a couple new question askers with the answers to everything already. Not to sure why they are here.

Yep, although I'm not sure of who you're referring now but there are those that have shown they never made that all important decision in their lives, "Do I want to be right or get it right?" Unfortunately there are all too many that never cross that Rubicon. I don't know if I'm right or wrong with the advice but I tried to share some thoughts\suggestions with someone that started their post with, "First cold night . . ." and then disregards some realities about the cold. Go figure. Considering how much more specific most of you can be about these vehicles then I'll ever be it must be frustrating at times. It says a lot about those that are still here trying to help anyway. FWIW, I admire and appreciate what you do and offer here. I can't count how many times the same names keep coming up in my many searches here.
