Interesting. And I wasn't off my rocker!

Years ago I went through Adak and Shemya a half a dozen times. Getting goose bumps just remembering it. Got stuck on Adak for 36 hours because the weather was bad. More than 30 hours of rain, ice and snow coming down sideways. It's no way to live.

River, but I already own a Bronco 2 lol

AK, that is a very clean looking engine. I hope it runs every bit as good as it looks.

Hey White, you have had some 3v experiences so I hope you can take a minute and answer a question for me. I always ran 5w20 in my 2 valve with no issues and have been running it in my 3v but I was watching some makuloco (sp.) Videos the other day and he said to begin running 5w30 as soon as possible. What is your take on this? I welcome any other opinions as well.

I was thinking the reason it was taking so long, other than the broken hand, but after he sent me those pics, was the clean up of the bolt on hard parts. I saw that Ford does it pan to v/covers, front to back, less the intake and EGR system and exhaust. It's even better looking in the engine bay. I'll post those pics after I get him back. Covers look brand new, as does the oil pan. The water pump is Motorcraft and marked as such. The rest I can't see right now. Hard to see everything when it was in the air.

Oh yeah, I forgot, they put in my dual diaphragm booster while the engine bay was wide open. Damn thing is big in the corner, lol

I bet you're chompin at the bits to get red back!

I'm slowly making progress on the Highboy, it's running and just finished the brakes last night (minus ebrake cables, customed ordered and being shipped) then I just need to fix my p/s and then I'll be running driver and stopping. Going to buy a cutoff tool and die grinder to finish the rust in the doors. Then it'll be rust free too. Lastly probably going to try and source a complete bed rather than fix mine (undecided) and then I'll be ready for paint.... yeah sounds easier than it actually is Lol

I said a Bronco would be cool too. I didn't say cooler! The Bronco II is without a doubt one of the finest Ford's ever to come from Detroit. LOL Hope there's some points buried in there somewhere. In all seriousness though, considering how things go the Bronco II is going to be a sought after 4 wheeler in the coming years. The Suzuki jeep that the 4 wheeling crowd once trashed has started to become sought after with a cult following. People build there toys from what they can get and try pricing an old F truck or Power Wagon that has potential. It's nuts. Around here $10K+ is not uncommon for a snake and rat infested barn find.

That is a pretty engine isn't it?

About the oil I can only share what we were told and this was more than 20 years ago now. Because of the tight tolerances the engines are engineered for specific oils. Heavier oils cause the wedge to create air bubbles in the oil which reduces the lubricating effectiveness. After long or particularly hard rally's there have been instances where the oil has foamed.

Did they give a reason for supporting the 30 weight?

I wonder what oil that half motorcycle half man is using?

River, you are good man. I was just cutting up. I doubt a 7.3 would be feasible unless I fully boxed the frame and a whole plethora of other upgrades.

Now one engine I would love to see work would be the 2.3L EcoBoost out of the explorer and ranger. It is a peppy beast in my wifes 2019 and still gets 24 mpg.

I have a friend that did a 4.0 swap in his Bronco II. Just that was a pretty decent upgrade over the 2.9 it came with.

I've always heard to use 20 only in them. Do you have a link to this video?

White, I found the video but dont have the time to watch it through the whole 40 minutes with no distractions.

I did get this screen shot from the comments though.
