Is Domtar still in operation down that way?
What do you do? If you don't mind me asking.

I'm not familiar with the brand but I'll look them up when I make it to the office.

Good morning/mourning, which ever fits your situation on the election outcome. lol

I think I need glasses again. What I was told and looked like bucket seats, turned out to be 60/40's. The seller also thought that they were buckets, only to find they are not. Since he loaded the seats, I didn't realize until I got home. I felt like an idiot, not checking farther, but upon reflecting, this is probably the best I could of hoped for, being lil Red is a regular cab. At least if I go to resell it later, it will have seating for 3 and make it more plausible to sell.

I also bought the engine. 2004, 2v 5.4 from that Expy. Low miles, 103k. Runs so smooth and quiet. Checked it for codes, and found nothing wrong. I only gave $350 and he was going to pull it last night. I'm suppose to go pick it up this afternoon. I couldn't pass up a perfect 5.4 2v for that price. I'm also getting the exhaust to the muffler, the wiring harness and PCM (useless to a 98 but I'll take it) so if anything is the least bit different, I have an option. It also had an overhead console, that he gave me with the harness. It is so much thinner than the Gen 10 one, but when held up to the pickup headliner, seems to fit perfectly. (Why not add it. It didn't cost me anything but 5 minutes to remove it, lol).

I want to thank the guys who posted to the Engine Swap thread for helping me decide to get this motor. Knowing how some of these modulars are at swapping holes, I wanted to make sure it wouldn't be a waste of time. Electronics and emissions can always be problematic. I just got off the phone with a buddy, and he's going to do the heavy labor of the install. I'm just going to do the upper end and hook up when he's done installing the long block. That will be much easier on my back. Cha-Ching. This is one way to get back money owed to you. Make them work it off. LOL.

AK, you mentioned ( i may have misunderstood) that the 04- 5.4 2v engine has stronger internals.
Is it different than the 03- 5.4 2v engine?
Did they make the change for the 3v heads?

Morning Bear.

The 03 and 04 have the stronger crank and heavier rods according to the parts and service manuals I dug out last night. This 04 is a 2 valve, and has the newer designed heads to keep from spewing out the plug threads. It is basically the same motor as the 03-04 250/350 SD use, as far as internals and block design. It is the intake system that really shows where the differences are. There are other areas, but that is the most noticeable right off. The short block for the F150 and F250, 2003 are the same number in one catalog. When assembled to a long block, the numbers vary.

I can't answer if the 3v heads have the newer designed threads for the plugs. I've read where a number of 3v's have blown the plugs out also. I left Ford just before the 3v's were introduced. Sorry, but that was the time when I broke/chipped the 4 vertebrae in my back.

What did you do to mess up your back?

On the 03 2v heads did all of them have the improved spark plug holes? And how can you tell w/o pulling a plug?

No Bear. Only so many got them in 03. By the end of 03 they had them on supposedly all the heads were the upgraded plug holes. Some where after 5 or 6th month of 03. All Ford 5.4 2v's, Expy, SDs & vans in 04 had them according to my Ford books.

My back was torn up in a 6-8 foot fall from one floor to another. I landed on my right shoulder, left knee and side of my head into the concrete. I looked like a pretzel they said, after getting up. I could barely walk. I talked to the building manager the next day, and they weren't going to do anything. I sicked a lawyer on them, and got a small settlement for their carelessness. The had snow water all over the tile, which caused me to slip and whamo. Concrete met face.

Daum,AK!- was you at work or store or apartment?- good God man!- i hate to hear that, i cant imagine!- i fell at my f-i-l's off a step ladder, fell on my **** at about 4 ft.- i think that is what caused my arthritis to twist up my back- but i thought i was ok at the time.
No wonder you have to be careful- how do you combat the cold on an everyday basis in the winter?

Bear, sorry to hear you fell also. I'm glad you fell on the part that doesn't require critical thinking. lol

The weather doesn't screw with me much. It can if it gets really cold, but it hasn't in years (knock on wood). It's fused with a titanium plate on l4, l5 and s1. That is why the bending stuff doesn't go over too well with me. Yogi, you are too young to have Uncle Arthur.
