I actually did that with my Mustang's GT500 rear spoiler to hold in the studs to bolt it to the rear deck. Worked well.

I don't know why but pictures sometimes take some time to show up and once they did I realized rubber grommets wasn't what you were looking for.

Anyway, do you know what the fasteners are called? I have a Fastenal catalog here and could probably get you a part number if I knew what they were. The catalog is a couple of thousand pages so pretty hard to hunt down. They also have a variety of self cinching inserts for metal screws.

I wish I did. I have a place that I have used for YEARS for all of my odd ball fasteners.... they specialize in hard-to-find automotive fasteners. They didn't have them. Also tried the paint shop I use and he didn't have them.

Fastenal is a good idea though. We have one here, albeit pretty limited stock in comparison to the stores in Salt Lake. They are closed until Monday though.

This is the kit I got though, if that helps. I would love to use a larger stud.... that is IF they can be found.

If you put a link to the kit in the post I don't have it. Somebody makes the fastener so they're out there somewhere. "Somewhere" can be really vast though!
