I went with a 6.0 PSD Cooler. its twice the size of the 7.3/v10 coolers. Even with a stall converter and towing 5k lbs, trans temps never get above 145*. It drives similar to normal. The biggest change is pulling away from traffic lights, and the way the trans down shifts. You wont need a tune even for a different stall speed, but i reccomend it. That way it doesnt pressure spike when the trans downshifts. Pulling away from traffic lights instead of the truck moving off idle it will have to flash the converter to get the truck moving. I have a 2000-2200 stall and it will flash the converter to 2400 when getting on the throttle heavily from a light. But around town and just normal driving you really dont notice it.

Awesome, thank you! I need to get a trans temp gauge here to. I'm sure my constant cruising at 2300 rpm is probably heating that trans up pretty good.

That's what I have been looking at recently.

You wont see much more heat when cruising. You'll see it when running around town when the converter spends most of the time with the tcc unlocked.

So what am I missing other than valves, valve guides, valve springs, gaskets and fuel parts? I know there are better parts and prices on different sights this was just convent to get a list together. I forgot wrist pins on there too. I'll let the head guy pick the valves and springs. I have no clue what springs to run. Obviously the bore size is going to depend on the block and condition of it

Missing ever gasket but the head gaskets but I have a feeling you already have that covered.

Yeah lol I started putting gaskets on there then I was like yeah this is obvious stuff I don't need on here. I need some help picking out a cam tho. I have it narrowed down to 4 or 5 but can't decide. The one on the list is a supercharger cam but I think it will be NA for at least a year or 2 so I'm thinking about just sticking with an NA cam. I think this is the one I want but Im not 100% sure. I'll post the rest when I go on my lunch break https://m.summitracing.com/parts/lun-21020706

Not at all. I'd rather do it once with nice parts than twice with cheap parts tho

Here's the ones Im considering:

https://m.summitracing.com/parts/lun-21020702

https://m.summitracing.com/parts/lun-21020706

https://m.summitracing.com/parts/hrs-276393-14

https://m.summitracing.com/parts/cca-102500

I have heard the 5.4s stroke tames the cam 200 or so rpm vs what it would be in a 4.6 that's why I'm leaning towards the 1500 rpm ones. Im not sure if I'm gonna do the transmission first or not. But if I am I want to get a solid plan first so I get the right stall. I know I'm gonna loose some low end but the 4.56s should help with that.
