I wish I could do it in that order lol. The truck is my daily so I can't have it Judy sitting blown up for to long. I should have my gears in in mid November and after that I will start on the engine build

Anyone know where the hell I can find spider gears for a 9.75 LS? I have found plenty of gears for an open 9.75 but none for an LS. Unless I wanted to get Yukon spiders which cost more than the ring and pinion sets. Are the they only ones that make spiders? I'm hoping I don't have to replace mine, just trying to locate some parts if I do. Definitely replacing the clutch packs when I do the gears, hopefully the spiders are fine tho. I was gonna switch to a true Trac but for as little as I go off road and the little amount of snow we get here I just can justify the cost when I can replace the clutches for $100. If my spiders are bad, then I guess I might as well get a tru-Trac then if Yukon is the only other spider manufacturer. My LS seems to work decent tho so that's probably not the case.

Any opinions on a decent engine builder? I've been considering just going with the Ford Racing 5.4 short block because it would be an easy buy. Looks like they run about 4k and are good for 900 hp. Any better options? This is definitely a budget build

Anything from Ford racing is going to come at a premium having that name on it. I would find a reputable machine shop and see what it would cost for them to build you something comparable with a junkyard block

That's pretty much what you're looking to spend for that power level no matter where you buy.
Mine was special ordered through mannys hardcore performance.

I saw Manny's offers a built short block for only $2800. Only thing that scares me is that he had some bad reviews on lightningrodder and I really don't want to lose any reliability going with a built motor.

Damn that's it?? Mine once optioned out was in the high 5s,I didn't think they started out below about $3500. luckily I ended up getting it for $3350, the guy lost his job and couldn't complete it.
I've never seen bad reviews because well, I never looked. It was an impulse buy, but I've seen some nasty trucks built with their motors
