It's all in the aggressiveness of the tune. I did the math last night and my static compression ratio is 11.2:1. 262ah should be OK on 89 still comes down to tuning. Detonation will happen under light load as well. My truck on 87 never sees more than 28 degrees while craising and never more than 16 degrees wot

I need to find the formulas and get to figuring. Is yours being decked what is giving you the higher compression?

I'm seriously leaning toward the 3cc pistons and 262ah just to be sure I can avoid detonation on 89 and a semi aggressive tune.

My block was decked .005", the heads were decked .008", I'm also using felpro mls head gaskets that are .006" thinner than Motorcraft head gaskets when torqued down.

Do you think the MC gaskets would hold up just fine to the upped CR.

So what are all of your opinions on head gaskets for these? I've heard to only use the all metal gaskets. I also have seen that you should not use copper spray on the gaskets if'n you do use regular gaskets. I've been using that copper spray for years on SBF's and Cologne V6's. Not sure what is myth, legend, or preference.

BTW, this is because I think I am actually going to fix my Romeo's leak on my Expy... if that makes any difference.

Ford or Felpro MLS. No spray and make sure both surfaces are clean. If it's a oil leak it's caused by a bur on the oil reutn ports on the heads .

I was looking at cometic head gaskets the other day, should I stay away from them if I ever get to a build?

It is indeed that burr. Is is something you just file off? Shoulda asked that already. I've heard of it, but don't know the fix.

Also, is this Mustang kit the same stuff for an F150?

Default Engine Builders talk.

Just curious, what's the maximum amount of boost you can run at a 9.1 CR before water/meth is needed and still being able to use pump gas (not e85). What's the maximum CR you can safely run without water/meth if you keep it NA?
