That's not a bad swap, no special tools needed other than torque wrenches (a must). Timing is easy following the Dynotech write up. Hard to screw up there with that writeup. I wrote the title for that write-up, Dynotech filled in the rest lol.

haha yeah not much to it but just a lot to do and very time consuming of a task. I think the worst part about it is probably taking the whole front accessory drive and front end of the truck apart to do it all.

Finding good parts and the ability to tell the difference before install is probably one of the most important. Well I guess everything about the install is important. So if you can get past that...lol. Brush up on the knowledge, take your time, it's definitely doable. A nice little power jump for the 97/98 blocks.

yep. I'm debating whether I want to do a PI swap on my trucks motor or just swap in a coyote truck engine when I ever get around to doing any major engine mod(s).

I'm kinda leaning more towards the coyote because for one it would be a hell of a lot easier to swap it in with significant power gains, and two, I could probably run the newer 6 speed auto trans too if so desired since it should run off the same PCM. I'm not sure how that would work with the column shifter though if at all. I'd like to keep it looking factory on the inside besides an early expy console swap.

If you say so lol. Well about it being easier. I mean, I have tickles all over after reading this one.

How is completely changing engines, transmissions, PCMs, and all the other **** easier than changing the heads and getting your truck tuned lol

I meant easier to make power lol. it's harder to make a larger amount of power on a 2v 5.4 than it is with a 5.0 coyote

and I don't mean that it takes a lot to make decent power with a 2v 5.4, but you can make more power with a coyote by doing less mods. and that's on top of the coyote having more power stock vs stock 2v 5.4.

how strong are the 6 speed autos in the newer trucks anyways? I imagine they can hold together pretty decently being behind the coyote
