Edit, that is how much more steel a 1/2" diameter bolt has vs a 5/16" bolt (both being your 4")

Enough of the BS i need some help. This valve cover bolt hole is jacked up and the bolt wont thread in. Should i shove the sucker in anyways or is there something else i should do. I really dont want to tap a new thread. Looks like its only tip top 3 or 4 threads and the rest are fine. Picture sucks

You can try to start it with your fingers very gently and tighten it down. It is possible to further damage it that way though. I've done it, but it requires a delicate touch.
