Default Engine Builders talk.

Head gaskets were on the wrong heads and flipped upside down.

I don't know how I managed to put an engine together 3 times and screw that up, but hey we learn as we go.

Should be done here in the next few days.

Well as far as fixes go it could have been much worse.

Hello,
I'm fairly new around the F150's but my 1997 4.2L V6 needs an engine rebuild.
I started a thread here:
https://www.f150forum.com/f6/1997-f1...ebuild-307595/
I'm searching for engine rebuild kits.
So far I have found the following ones:
rpmmachine
flatlanderracing
cleggengine
perfectengine
northernautoparts

Anyone could make recommendation or experience with engine rebuild kits?
I also looked at sealed power and mahle rebuild kits, and simply piece the engine components together with a gasket set.
Let me know your thoughts
Thanks

Hahaha wow. Hey, at least it's something really minor and a simple fix, from a simple mistake. Oh well. You live and learn. Glad it's getting fixed though, and nothing more serious.

Drove the truck home from the shop.

On my way to get Chinese food it stalled out and wouldn't start again.

I've got a fuel issue and it needs a tune badly because it's getting way too much fuel right now.

It's back at the shop and I should hear back tomorrow.

Your kidding! Well, I guess it wasn't too self explanatory then. Hope that's all it was.
Thanks for posting that...definitely! For you to keep doing that, they must look right upside down. I'll remember this...I know you will lol.

Guys would a motor with 60,000 miles have any wear on the timing guides or chains? 2002 5.4 bought the motor as a used long block. Trying to figure out while I have it apart for both front and rear seals. If I should go ahead and replace the timing stuff and be done with it. Plan is to replace anything that might give me issues down the road. Motor in the 1999 F150 has lots of trash in the pan. It stopped up the oil pickup tube. Truck has 220,000 miles on it.
Have a thread about what should be changed on here also.
Pete

Was it smoking or stinking? How do you know it's over fueling?
