So after talking to Gumby, I'm contemplating installing a meth kit when the blower goes on. Based on my elevated c/r in addition to the hypereutectic pistons susceptibility to detonation he feels I should take precautionary measures to prevent piston damage. The IAT'S will be much higher under boost. He says the ringlands are the weakest link in my setup and I need to keep them cool. He also assured me that he's ran boost on hyper pistons before to the tune of 700 ponies with no problems. I'm looking at the basic snow kit as a possibility. Anyone else have any experience/input on this?

Yes even tho not boosted. I had the issue with stock NPI hyperutetics and my first PI swap. It was the first time tuning for myself and figured the factory afr and timing table were ok. I was dead wrong. I eventually added .8 to the AFR table under high load. The problem I see with stock pistons is the how quickly the blister. I know you have a built engine ready to go. But I would pull the pistons an mirror polish the tops. It will help with quinch area along with help prevent the top from absorbing excess heat.

Thanks man. Do you think I could polish just the tops when I pull the heads to do the studs without pulling the bottom end out? I'm not going to have access to the proper facilities to pull the entire engine until I get my shop built next year.

I would go with a Basic snow kit then. As polishing them in the engine could lead to other issues. Later down the road if you build something stronger with forged internal thats when I would polish them, along with the combustion chambers. I did when I ended up with forged pistons after blistering a Hyper stock NPI piston.

That's the plan then. And hey, if she blows time for a few upgrades. already have forged crank & h-beams. But I'll definitely go with forged pistons next time.

Just for protection. Simple to do with trick flows. Also I have oil running into two very hot turbo chargers, so I just wanted to make sure.
