I suggest you check your rear crankshaft bearing cap for wear to be sure you will have good oil pressure before going back together.

I am in Kansas. I actually have and ASE mechanic friend I work with. He was a mechanic for USPS for 10 years and just did his 2006 5.4. He told me that if I ever needed it done, I buy the parts and pay him $500. He said he can do it in a weekend. He has done 3 now. Remans are right at $3500 delivered.

With all the parts I bought so far in last 6 months I'm at 1000 Canadian approx with shipping and duty to Canada. So you should be at under 1500 us with your friends pay of 500 lol if someone offered me that here I would be all over that, the dealer here wanted 3900 just to do my timing, no high pressure oil pump, no taking off oil pan and cleaning that up, no pick up tube, no cam removal and cleaning and adjusting, that was just to do timing, so I wouldn't think about your offer. My truck had 260,000km when I bought it and with out maintenance it never had its like 400k km

Yeah, if I keep it long enough I should have about $1500 USD in timing (phasers, chains, guides, metal tensioners, VCT's, gaskets, oil pump, oil pan drop etc).

I pd 550 Canadian to my door timing, phasers, high pressure oil pump, pick up tube, gasket kit for everything up front, tensioner so, new crank bolt, oil pan bolt then 163 for vct selenoid , 150 for kit of 8 coil pack and 63 for spark plugs, plus all brake clean carb clean and misc items and bunch new tools lol
This is so far plus gotta buy some lash adjusters so buy them at dealer so I don't have to wait, I'll let you know what they cost, oh ya and take your cam sensors off when you work on front cover, so you don't break one like me and are 67 at dealer rrrrrr lol

97-04 5.4 in the f series were 2 valve motors
04-10 5.4 had 3 valves
