Not trying to be a smartass, but if one was 'ticking' -- "THEY" are bad. As for 'which one', hope someone is a smarter *** than me. Lol.

Yep I was about to answer it myself lol. You can tell right away as when trying to compress them they squeeze out out like a plunger and the bad ones won't at all or just to say. As much as it pisses me off I always did enjoy learning new things and playing around with mechanics. I am mechanically inclined just not on fords. I can build a skidoo snowmobile eyes closed but not like this. Seems like I got all my parts now and cams, rollers, plungers, and vct housing all cleaned up and should be good to start putting things back toget her. So is there a vid somewhere I can watch with the steps to put back in order so my timing is good to go.
1 bottom gear 6 o'clock
2 cylinder 1 TDC
3 pass cam lobe facing to pass fender
4 drivers side opposite and can't find torque specs to bolt vct housing back in and also the cams in. Thx

That's all you need! That's the ONLY thing I ever had going for myself. Never seen the front side of a school after getting drafted into the U.S. Army.
I ran across the attached sheet on the internet. It has lots of torque specs for the 5.4 consolidated in one place - but doesn't have VCT valve body.

For that one, open the Factory Service Manual (Zip) file, then the 5.4 Engine.PDF file. Page 307 seems to indicate 89 in-lbs.

Yes I will list what I bought and cost. I tried to get what I can online as it is a third the cost then dealer. I looked at a oil pan gasket at dealer here and wanted 96 bucks plus 12 % tax and a vct selenoid is 180 bucks and coil packs are 108 each. But will let you know for sure, thx

I just want to compare cost of all this work vs a reman engine. I would like a list if you could as I would deduct stuff like COP's since mine are good. Thanks
