You don't have to remove the silencer if you don't want to. Unless you want to hear the intake more just leave it in.

You don't have to cut off the resonaters the only thing they do is dampen the sound of the intake like a baffle, there is no power increase in doing this just creates a sound of air sucking into the truck as if you had an aftermarket intake.

Yes. I have a 2005 XLT and this is a perfect step by step on how to do it. I did it last summer and I am waiting on a Gryphon to go with it now.

Default Baffles..

I cut mine out and capped them and I cant tell a difference in the sound at all. Others are talking about hearing air rushing into the intake but I cant hear it.

It does clean up some of the clutter in there but thats it so far.

I didn't notice a difference in sound either, swapped it to my dads 06 and could hear it...but he has stock exhaust and I'm running a glasspack Lol

Only if it causes a component failure. You should be able to run it without a problem.

I have seen a couple people using sewer PVC because the wall is thinner and there isn't the need of grinding the OD so much. Anybody know of any issues from using 1 versus the other?

The sewer PVC is a thinner wall and will get warm inside the engine bay, of course if its 100+ degrees outside it doesn't really matter, but for the most out of it I would stick with schedule 40 pvc.
