Gotts intake modification

So I just dug this up, does it really make a nice differecne, I have all the parts at my shop to do this work. What exactly does it do on the 04 Lariet 5.4 3 valve. Since the filter is on top the engine, do you just pop the part out of the fender well and cut it off and stick a piece of pvc pipe in there instead, what does it do exactly? I dont see how more air can get in over the way it is now. Also what do you do with any sensors that are in the area?

O I just went out and looked at it for a mind refresh. Does the factory boot come out to make the 3" PVC fit in correctly or do you just stick the PVC pipe in and its tight by it self without any type of trimming. Then do you use the 3" fernco to attach the PVC to the factory tube? I think Im getting it now

hey guys, glad you liked the write up, i hope to do one soon of when i installed my whipple - have pictures and even video - i've started the write up its a step by step diy project type installation. everything i had to do to install it on my 5.4l engine.
what gets me is who was the first person to think if i install a pvc pipe in my truck it will do this....got to love inginuity driven by cost savings huh...and honestly its thicker than stock plastic peice and is probably twice as efficient.

thanks for the pics and the idea i just did it to my 05 4.6L. this mod made my exhaust just a little louder and gave me a little better throttle response. awesome easy mod for $20 worth of supplies!!!

I did mine then took it back off right away, it didnt throw me a code but I could tell it was running lean, If I would stomp it and let out then get back into it, it just spit and sputtered. Put the old one back on and it was fine.
