Well It's been about a month and the squeaking hasn't returned. And the silicon sounds like a good idea.

Doesn't look like it goes into the fender though. How much are they trying to get you for that plastic tube?

I'd buy it but I've already done mine without spending anything on it. But I may modify mine to run behind the headlight

Seems like a clean looking setup, but I'll stick with my $12 gotts for now

Yeah I'll stick with my set up as well might change later to a full real cold air kit. Or snorkel kit if I can find one.

Did mine using the Spectre hose too. So easy a caveman could do it and for twenty bucks, well worth the effort saved. No grinding, sanding, fitting or anything, unless you take it a step further, like I did. Removed the factory "snorkle AND the bellows, removed the 2 humps from inside the silencer opening with the ol dremmel, made 4 slits in the silencer opening at 90 degrees, using a hacksaw, and clamped it onto the 2nd Spectre sleeve. Plenty of flex to allow for engine movement and the Spectre sleeve that's in the fender wall does not move one bit, in fact is tight and difficult to pull out.

As far as the holes in the factory silencer, mine had them too, in 3 different places. They did look like they were drilled by hand and not molded. Not sure what they are for because if some water does get in there, chances are, the air velocity going thru there, while at highway speed, seems like it would prevent the water from migrating out the holes, but not sure. Seems odd they would go thru the effort to design a CAI, then add holes, allowing hot engine compartment air back in. Seems kind of self defeating, sort of speak.

I taped over mine and did notice a new kind of noise occasionally at highway speed with the cruise on (may be coincidental with some other things I did at reletively the same time). A noise much like the noise made when they do the radio station emergency alert test. Would come on low, get louder then fade out and only does it once in a while. Change throttle seed, hit OD button, changing engine speed, and it goes away. Will remove the tape and see if the odd noise is eliminated.

PS: Noticed no inrease in milage (actually went down a bit) after I did mine, just seems to breathe better at highway speeds, tranny seems to do less downshifting on hilly terrain. But the milage thing could be difference in gas / winter mix this time of year in the North East.

Since the mod, I've noticed my MPG go down considerably. Might be the colder air as well as the gas mix... but it seems like an awful lot.

I've been running the gotts for a few weeks now, probably about 400 miles on it. I did disconnect the battery, but might try it again. Not really sure what else to do. I might go back to stock if I can't figure it out.

Anyone have any insight?

are you having more fun behind the wheel? Just a little extra gas can make a big difference. When I add a mod I wont check my mileage for 2 fillups because I know its bad. And its my fault too.
