Sync update - cannot find installation files
What version is everybody running? My Sync software page says I am already updated with Gen1 - V4.0.2 (CR3T-14D544-AC). It had a download button that was nothing but a dead link about a month ago. Mine is the GPSC/touchscreen. So far not a bad unit and everything seems to work fine but I am missing some features that would be neat to have (music data/text from bluetooth, phone messaging texts appearing on Sync screen, to name a couple). I was really suprised to see my bluetooth music data wouldn't load on the screen. That seems very basic these days.
Has anyone here completed an upgrade with assistance from the In-Vehicle Tech Team...?
Downloaded just now, files in archive dated 6/30. Filename FJ5T-14D544-AB.zip
In the vehicle, click "OK" to install the app. Silence for 20-25 seconds, then I hear ...
"(ding) Your download is in progress, and the system may reboot several times during the update. Please ignore the initial installation complete prompt and wait up to 10 minutes until you hear your Sync system update was completed. You may then use Sync."
About halfway through this speech, the screen changes to display Installation Failed. Then I hear,
"(ding) The installation was unsuccessful. There may not be enough space, or it may not work with this version."
The update kicks out an XML file which shows the installed FPN as EJ5T-14D544-AA.
Is the difference important, the one between the downloaded filename and the FPN in the XML?

And I did so two months ago.
And a couple of times since.
It's one thing to say that upgrades and improvements were never promised under warranty, and it's another thing for the guys to the left and to the right of me to be able to update when I cannot.
I just can't see how the IVT team is doing us any good in this situation. All of my queries have been answered with, "we've logged your request and we'll let you know if something changes." But then it seems that nothing changes.
I'm sure there are several other participants in this topic who've had a similar experience. Speak up, owners.
A cynical man might say the IVT team was chiefly interested in keeping the hubbub down for as long as possible.
Thank you, Joy. I've just done so.

I just wasted about 2 ½ hours trying to do this update on my 2015 with the basic Sync.
I got nowhere using my Mac, but once I used the PC laptop I was at least able to get the truck to read the files. However, after about 1 minute of install time, the computer says there may not be enough memory or it's the wrong file...

This could not be more difficult.

Anyone know what years of Gen 1 Sync F150's should be available for download? I checked a few 2010 and the Ford owners site said they were already on the latest even though they were on versions 3.1 and 3.01
