I have the same version.
2011 F150 FX4 sync with Sony nav.
I keep getting the file not found as well.
please excuse me for replying on an old thread. Apparently that’s “bad forum etiquette” according to some other folks. Sorry that I didn’t have these Sync problems four years ago when I didn’t even own the truck. 🙄😂

I also am posting here now another year later after having just picked up a 2009 F-150 King Ranch. I've got the 8" touch screen with Nav and I'm still getting the File not found error. I didn't try doing a master reset first like some have mentioned so will give that a try, then also try selecting the media USB. It's very frustrating as I too would love to see track information text and have text messaging working on the head unit.
Here's what I did in detail for anyone still having trouble. My truck is a 2010 with basic sync.
The current download for me is DE8T-14D544-AC.zip, my files were still dated 4/16/2016. This is what it looked like when I downloaded:
Here is what the two install files looked like.
install.lst on the left, autoinstall.lst on the right
I removed the extra lines in install.lst to simplify it to this:
I changed the reference in autoinstall.lst to the -HA file to -HC, since -HA does not exist in the SyncMyRide folder.
I copied the edited files and the SyncMyRide folder to the root of my FAT32 formatted flash drive and started the update in the truck. I did a master reset before just in case.
I got the initial "Installation Complete" message, then waited for about 10 minutes. It changed through a few screens over this time. At the end it gave me a message that the install failed but after checking the version, the update succeeded! I did another master reset, again just in case, then re-paired my phone.
I am now getting artist and song info on Bluetooth audio and it shows the new version in the system info.
Thanks again boivin!
Can you send me the DE8T-14D544-AC.zip file please?

I'm having problems with my phone bluetooth disconnecting so wanted to update my Sync. I believe I'm on 5.8 right now.
I have a 2011 F150 King Ranch.
I downloaded the installation files on a large Fat32 USB just like the instructions said. I was given the 2 installation files and the folder with the data. When I went to install the update, it tells me that Sync cannot find the installation files.
I've tried it with multiple USB drives; I've downloaded the files multiple times; I'm trying it with the car running and in park. Nothing is working.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks, Paul
If the error is can’t find the file error then likely the code has wrong default location. I edited and fixed mine years ago. Please edit the file in notepad and print it out but don’t save it. Post what the printout is.
FYI, these updates are not vehicle specific. You can go on eBay and look up any Ford that would have the same Sync system, and plug that VIN into https://help.ford.com/update-sync/ and see what update file you can download. I tried exactly two times and the above link was presented to me when I tried the 2nd VIN.
Heck, you don't even need an account on the Ford Owner site to do this like you used to.
