I just realized this too after I sent you a PM. I called Applied about some White Translucent silicone grease, its about .69-.83 cents for a small pack for a little job like this. I asked if they made those O-rings and he said no, probably the same as O-Reillys. So National makes them. Good catch Pete!

Default O-ring swap to original hoses

I put the O-rings part#116 that Petef150 sent me into my Orignal OEM hoses today. I used a little silicone grease to lightly coat them and they fit perfect like the OEM ones. I can see the edges of both stick out past the plastic washer that separates them. Since I have that I may send my new OEM set back if it doesnt cost to much to ship them, will call tomorrow. Also speedtwin32 you got me curious so I ordered 4 of the gates # 28505 quick-lok 90 connectors. I am going to Dissect one and will take pics to verify quality and O-ring size. they will be here between June 25-28th. If they are no better I will pay shipping and return them. So far no leaks, coolant level good. I was told that the gates 90's are made in the USA, we'll see! That way anyone wanting to do this will have it all out on the table.

Your welcome,
and my wallet just keeps getting lighter and lighter,LOL!
Thanks to everyone who has helped and contributed to making this better.
I was trying to find some reviews on the Dorman and Gates 90's. Only review I could find on Dorman was a cheaper elbow with O-rings that did not use the quick connects and that was for a GM car and they complained about the O-rings leaking too. I only found the Gates by going on their website and searching under automotive to even find that part number and a real pic of the actual elbow because most vender websites all show 3 regular straight connectors in different sizes, so you have to read the description.

Default Over one week, no leak.....

Well I am over a week now driving 121 miles per day minimum to work and back and no leaks with the swap to the stock Ford O-rings in the Dorman 90's.

So with everyone now reporting leak free including myself with this fix, I am going to say I think the least expensive route is to buy Dormans and either swap your stock O-rings out or buy the replacement O-rings you guys found that is the same size. The Gates 90's just seem a bit pricey to me, the O-rings are cheap and it is a 5 minute job to swap them all out.

Again, great job everyone for the team effort on this, thanks to all that have experimented to get this right!

Wow! I didnt realize you drove that much in one day. I have driven mine everyday now for 19 days, but not near the miles, so you are right. If your gonna leak should have by now. Yes the Dormans are going to be the least expensive and the gates are only feasible if you buy them online because the parts stores are at about $26-30 a piece. Online about $65-70 for all 4. I still have some coming so will compare and take pics of one for you all. The power grip heat connections were also a great find by you, Thanks and that really looks clean.

Default Gates 90's got here early

Ok my gates 90's came in, they only sent me 3 due to they were out of stock, so I will have to order one more somewhere else. Here is what I can tell you:
1 Quality is spot on. The O-rings are the same exact size and type of material.
When you look down inside where the Dorman has a large white insert ring that contacts the clip, the Gates has a black one spitting image of the OEM ones. Also if you take your thumb or finger you can turn that large black ring on the OEM ones as well as the Gates. I dont know yet if you can on the Dorman, But I will try if I remove mine and try these. Also the OEM connectors have some kind of A looking symbol on them and the gates has a similar one,but larger. The clips that come with the gates are identical to the OEM ones, very sturdy. The biggest difference really is the internal parts and getting right spec O-rings. O and the price! Gates are made in USA. But probably no headaches from the git-go. I am going to try to post some pics, one will show all 3 clips,Dorman,Gates,OEM which is minor and the rest will be a Gates next to The OEM attached to the factory hose so you can tell them apart. The last pic is of the OEM connector. Will post a pic of the gates below, I reached my max for this one.

This web site should come with a warning, "Enter at your OWN RISK, site will cause uncontrollable desire to purchase STUFF"

This modification and ALL that have participated in this blog is the very reason this web site is what it is and what it should be. This is a place for fellow F150 owners to come to and look for and find the best modifications for their trucks. My hat is still off to you and for ALL the effort you have put into this and the time to help others who desire to take this on.
