Well the simple answer is the Dorman fitting is complete with o-rings and clips....so it was "reasonable" to expect a brand new part to fuction as designed.
It was just a fluke it had a slight diffenece in spec that would allow it to weep, they "should have" worked as is.
The o-rings are not even apparent unless you started looking for reasons it was leaking....they are hidden by a angled mating surface that the clip matches up against.....if KPC hadn't investigated and found those, we might not have known why it happened. This is my first experience with this type of quick connect fitting, looked like a leak waiting to happen to me with the stock hose since you could move it up and down on the barb, but they don't leak.
My point is, if you have never worked with these before, it is not obvious there are o-rings inside, so you wouldn't know to change anything....again, bought a "new" part, expected it to work as designed.

IC, yeah they aren't exactly noticeable, being a dealer tech I knew they were in there. I'm shocked Dorman didn't follow the specs of the oem or maybe Ford changed the sizes after Dorman went thru production?
But in any event unless the factory o-rings are damaged they can and should be reused by anyone wanting to go thru with this uber cool mod, certainly answered my question and now I my self will take this task on.
The only other concern would be reusing the oem lock clips, I believe it might be better to use the Dorman clips with oem o-rings if possible.

Guys, update us on how they are doing, those of you who made the switch, just want to hear it from the field to make sure no leaks, that $22 a gallon coolant is too expensive to keep having to poor more in!

Ok, I swapped out the only 1 connector the was leaking. I am sure the others will start to leak some day.
I swapped both o-rings on the one and so far it's not leaked a drop. I was losing enough to leave a puddle on the ground. I just went to dinner and drove the truck hard. So far NOTHING is leaking out.

For those that have used the Dorman adapters, why didn't you reuse the rings from the original hoses? Were they messed up when pulled apart? Years ago when we would have to remove those quick connect fittings for other repairs we always just reused the original rings and never had any issues with leaking.

I called Dorman and spoke to a tech. I ask him if they actually made the hose assembly for Ford and he said no. We had a lengthy discussion about why their 3/4 fittin leaked. He had no reason and said they had not received any complaints. I explained to him about the O rings and he said he would pass it on the engineers and he said they would look into the problem because the fittin should work on a 3/4 pipe unless the diameter on the pipe is some how a different size. The O rings I ordered should be here Monday. I will find out if an O ring can be found as a replacement

Bought a pack of 25 for $5 and change. I have everything to install my cover but thinking about warranty issues I'm not sure I want too now. I hope this info helps someone.

My OEM hoses I ordered left florida yesterday should be here by Friday. I took the OEM plastic washer out of my OEM hoses and it measured about the same as you quoted, as did the Dorman O-ring, but that is me using a ruler not as good. The Dorman seemed to be a hair short of that15/16.Do you know what type material you ordered? Probably EPDM like the hoses. I know the O-rings ability to withstand indentation is measured by something called Durometer. The higher the number the more resistance to being compressed, meaning stronger. I do know the OEM ones definitely seem harder than the Dormans. There are other materials like Buna-N and Viton too that these come in. Going on 10 days no leaks yet. When the OEM hoses get here I am going to compare the two O-rings. Thanks, Petef150.

Look who else makes the quick 90's. I seen them on amazon for a lot less than other suppliers. I wonder if they are better quality or just another PITA. They look a lot like the Dormans and appear to be plastic but the clips look more gray like the OEM ones and the O-rings? lol
