2011+ 55-60mph 5.0 Shuddering and EcoBoost Engine Miss/Loss of Power - Possible Fixes
I am headed to pick my truck up shortly. I have the 2011 eb F150 with 11,000 miles on it now. It started shuddering around 4800 miles which is when I had the oil changed and and transmission oil leak fixed. The shop has reset the computers three times before this and shot my fuel mileage to crap twice. I also started getting the black soot on the tail pipe again after the last reset. I called about the crankshaft sensor and the misfire neutral issue and mine was not having these problems.

Don't think for a second that dealers are on your side or really give a damn about solving your problems. They'll blow smoke up your butt until you press them hard enough to fix it or go away. Seems to be the new mantra with dealer service centers as of late.
Just stumbled upon this thread; I have a 2011 XLT XTR (chrome package for you Yankees) with the 20" wheels that I think has the 55-60 MPH "shudder". Would this feel something like a wheel or tire problem? When I picked the truck up, coming down the highway at around 55-60 mph I first noticed a shake in the truck. To me, it felt like the wheels were loose, not balanced properly or that maybe I had a bad tire. I thought that maybe the dealer hadn't torqued down the 20's, so much so that I pulled off the highway, dug out the tire iron and checked the lugnuts; all seemed fine, I just thought maybe I needed to break in the truck (tires could have been slightly flat-spotted from sitting on the lot for a while). The problem seemed to disappear after that until it returned today; around 50-60 mph, and VERY noticable. I chalked it up to snow and ice build-up in the underbody (there was a ton of **** packed in there) and even some snow and ice build-up in the wheels themselves which could have easily thrown the wheels out of balance. I pulled it into the heated shop and washed everything out underneath and the problem seems to be gone again. I'm wondering if this shudder sensation feels anything like what I'm describing; as if you had a wheel loose, out of balance or flat spotted. I don't neccesarily feel the shudder in my sterring wheel, more like the whole truck just shakes. I'll definitely be paying closer attention to what it feels like, and what conditions seem to cause it. Thanks for the info.

This is NOT a tire issue. This is a definitive hestiation/miss/shudder at 55-60 MPH in 6th gear at 1500-1600 RPM. I have the 18" chrome wheels with the Goodyear tires and recently put on the 18" OEM aluminum wheels with Blizzaks. I had the hesitation/miss/shudder with the Goodyears and same with the Blizzaks. I stood in the garage with a friend of mine who balanced the tires so I know they were balanced correctly. I have printed out some of the information that Bob_Mac has posted and will be taking it to my dealer next week for my appointment.
A good way to check this is when it is happening drop back to fifth and if it stops then it is the miss fire and not the tires. My truck is at the dealers now and I gave them the info and waiting for results!!!
Went to the dealer yesterday for an oil change and to get this problem documented. Service Tech said he felt it in his test drive, but couldn't find any codes. I had him check the "mode 6" and that wasn't my problem. He showed me the printout and it was clean. Going to get a second opinion from another dealer though, as they didn't seem to be really interested in solving any of the problems with my truck...
Dropped my truck this morning to have them look into the "misfire" possibility and for the shudder I have when the truck comes to a stop. I documented both issues and my observations on both so when the SM gives the truck to the Tech, the Tech can read my write up and call me directly if he has questions. SM said it might be with them for up to two days as each issue requires two different specialized techs to look at. We'll see...
I won't bore you with my 3 trips to the local dealer or the list of phone calls to Ford 800# to open a case.
I am told they are working on it and will have an engineer flown in to document issues with several other trucks including new trucks on the lot. I am bringing mine in after the holidays.
Once this is all over I plan on negotiating free oil changes for the life of the vehicle for all my time and frustrations.
