I just bought a 2013 F-150 4x4 5.0 with 1100 miles on it. On the first tank of E10 unleaded, I averaged 17.2 mpg...not too bad! I am on my first tank of E85 fuel...just to try it out and I am averaging 14.7 mpg (only 1/2 tank thru). This is driving only city driving so far and I am really following speed control in Houston traffic...which isn't hard on these freeways. I am going to take a trip very soon to see what kind of mpg I get. I definitely will try a tank of non-ethonol fuel to see how high I can get the mpg in the city.

Just filled up this morning with an average of 14.2 mpg of 100% city driving. These 36 gallon tanks are something nice, lasting 2.5 weeks per tank!

Default Tonneau cover

I was reading a lot about tonneau covers before buying one. On my truck it definitely increased my highway mileage by at least two MPG. I think it is more than that but don't want to start any fights. My 2013 Ecoboost gets almost 21 MPG on flat east coast highways

Without looking thru this whole thread what about exhaust systems for newer Ecoboost trucks. Do they increase mileage and would they violate warranties?

I can't say for sure about the bed covers, but I was told by an expert they do help in actual wind-tunnel testing. I know my truck gets excellent mileage and I have one.

As for exhaust, if it's better it will improve mileage, though it may be a tiny amount.

Hi, I own a 2010 Lariat 5.4, this truck is an export model equipped wit a 3.31 rear axle. This way the end ratio is very long and this truck at 95mph does around 2.400 rpm. Do you know if this setup is also used in USA? Or is it only for Export?

Wow! I bet that thing gets about 30 mpg on the highway!!! LOL How does it tow? I drove a v6 chevy yrs ago for Terminix with similar gears , it turned 2000 at a speck over 80mph. Great mileage but with a 100 gal tank, pump and equipment it didn't handle it very well. Had a couple 5.4's. Great engine.

Hi, I get around 22 mpg on the open road, with normal traffic, overtaking trucks, not taking much car for fuel economy. On very heavy city traffic I get around 11 to 13 mpg, but this includes sitting on traffic jams alot.
I started to use one 2010 5.4 White Platinum Lariat mid 2011 and was amazed by the long 6th transmission ratio.
I do not tow or carry goods on the load box, usually I travel alone! I know I could use a smaller car to commute, but I do love F150 and I pay gladly the extra fuel just to be able to enjoy the F150's smoothness and safety.
In Angola we do have freeways, just regular two lane open roads, so I cant place my truck in a stable speed, to check fuel economy.

Truck is designed to run on 87 octane or better fuel. I think it actually warns NOT to use 85 octane in the user manual.

85 octane is different than E85. 85 octane is sold at higher altitudes because detonation prevention (octane) is not needed as much. E85 is 85% ethanol just as E10 is 10% ethanol.
